WTA Madrid Day 2 Predictions Including Victoria Azarenka vs Olga Danilovic

A hectic day of WTA Madrid action is scheduled for Day 2. Two-time Australian Open champion Victoria Azarenka faces a challenging opening-round match against Olga Danilovic. As always, we here at LWOT predict all the contests in our articles, but which players do you think will win?

WTA Madrid Day 2 Predictions

Ann Li vs Aliaksandra Sasnovich

Head-to-head: Sasnovich 1-0 Li

Li has enjoyed a better last few months than Sasnovich, who is ranked outside the Top 100. However, Sasnovich’s best chance of beating the American is on a clay court. It gives her a chance to try to soak up pressure from the bigger-hitting Li. But the Madrid Open’s clay being quicker than most other tournaments might give Li enough of an advantage to progress to the next round.

Prediction: Li in 3

Alycia Parks vs Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva

Head-to-head: Parks 1-0 Kasintseva

This will almost certainly be a battle between attack and defense. Parks is one of the most aggressive players in the women’s game, while Kasintseva frustrates opponents with her grit. Parks is not naturally most comfortable on clay, but she is still backed to make it through this match. Kasintseva’s improvements over the last 12 months will probably not be enough for her to be ready for Parks’ powerful serve and groundstrokes.

Prediction: Parks in 2

Victoria Azarenka vs Olga Danilovic

Head-to-head: First meeting

Danilovic enters this match with the momentum of being the runner-up at last week’s Rouen Open. She also played well and was competitive in the final against Elina Svitolina. This is not the ideal opening clay court match of 2025 for Azarenka, and it will also be her first contest on any surface since retiring against Karolina Muchova at the Miami Open over a month ago. Azarenka was the 2011 and 2012 runner-up in Madrid, and the conditions suit her more than other tournaments on clay, but she is still a slight underdog in this matchup.

Prediction: Danilovic in 2
