WTA Charleston Semifinal Predictions Including Jessica Pegula vs Ekaterina Alexandrova

We are down to the final four at the WTA Credit One Charleston Open, and every player has a good chance of reaching the final. Top seed Jessica Pegula will face the red-hot Ekaterina Alexandrova, while the resurgent Sofia Kenin takes on Amanda Anisimova. As always, we at LWOT will offer predictions for every match on the slate. But who will advance?

WTA Charleston Semifinal Predictions

Sofia Kenin vs Amanda Anisimova

Head-to-Head: first meeting

Losing to Coco Gauff without winning a single game in Miami must have hurt Sofia Kenin, as she is playing some of her best tennis in the last 3-4 years. She is in her first semifinal of the season and can beat anyone the way she is hitting the ball this week. This run also helps Kenin get closer to being a top-30 player and having an opportunity to be seeded at the French Open.

Amanda Anisimova rallied from a 3-5 deficit in the second set to beat fellow compatriot, Emma Navarro, in straight sets. It was a topsy-turvy match, but Anisimova played the biggest points better and got the win. She is in her first semifinal on clay since 2022, and interestingly, it was at this place only where she last reached a clay court semifinal. Both these players have reached this stage without losing a set and have an almost equal chance to win. I am going with Anisimova, but don’t have much confidence.

Prediction: Anisimova in 3

Jessica Pegula vs Ekaterina Alexandrova

Head-to-Head: Pegula 1-2 Alexandrova

Jessica Pegula bounced back brilliantly from a very slow start against Danielle Collins and is into her third semifinal in a row at the Charleston Open. Pegula will be eager to advance to the final this time.  However, she faces an opponent who beat her on the last two occasions and most recently in February at the Qatar Open.

Ekaterina Alexandrova is a force to be reckoned with when she is on song and Qinwen Zheng got the full experience of it. Alexandrova lost just five games in the quarterfinal and remained unbroken against the #3 seed. Zheng looked to have an arm injury, which also hindered her chances against an in-form Alexandrova. The Russian player knows how to beat Pegula, and I won’t be surprised if she does that again.

Prediction: Alexandrova in 3
