Daniel Island, South Carolina, comes alive this week as the Charleston Open begins play. The clay court tournament is a WTA 500 event. With Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek, and Coco Gauff sitting it out, Jessica Pegula checks in as the tournament favorite. Here are our best bets for the Round of 64. Did we hit the mark or strike out? Let us know in the comments below!
WTA Charleston Open Round of 64
Shnaider – Kudermetova: Time 01:30
H2H: 1-1
Polina Kudermetova and Diana Shnaider meet for the third time with the overall series at one apiece, and it so happens that both matches were on clay like Charleston. Kudermetova took their 2022 quarterfinal matchup in the ITF, but Shnaider took their only WTA match. Neither are playing their best tennis right now, both having gone 4-6 in their last ten matches.
Best Bet to Make
The books have Shnaider winning handily, and I agree. She’s 81-28 on clay throughout her career. Kudermetova is 61-40. That said, these two seem to match up differently than the stats would suggest. Kudermetova has won more sets than Shnaider in their head-to-head and is going 3.2 at Bet365, should you fancy an upset. Kudermetova winning is definitely within the realm of possibility, so I wanted to throw this one on there for the folks who don’t mind taking chances.
That being said, P. Kudermetova winning is a value bet for sure.
Value bet/ the best odds: P. Kudermetova winning @3.2 @Bet365
Kalinskaya – McNally: Time 16:00
H2H: 0-1
Out of all the seeded competitors, Anna Kalinskaya vs Caty McNally has the greatest potential for an upset, combined with odds good enough for a bet. Ever since 2022, McNally has found a way to put it all together on clay courts. Her record since 2022 on clay is 17-4 compared to Kalinskaya, who is 10-8. McNally has also played 3 different matches on clay in 2025 compared to Kalinskaya’s zero.
Best Bet to Make
The books have Kalinskaya winning, and I disagree. Kalinskaya is 4-6 in her last ten matches compared to McNally’s 7-3, and that is before we account for how each plays on clay courts. McNally is 18-5 in 2025, and Kalinskaya is 4-7. At 2.25 via bet-at-home, you can more than double your money on the likeliest upset.
That being said, McNally winning is a value bet for sure.
Value bet/ the best odds: Kudermetova winning @2.25 @bet-at-home
Shnaider – Kudermetova: Time 01:30
H2H: 1-1
Regarding a prop bet, Polina Kudermetova taking a set from Diana Shnaider seems like one of the most likely to hit, coupled with a decent reward for taking the chance. Kudermetova has a history of playing well on clay against her opponent, and Shnaider isn’t exactly doing well lately. Kudermetova has also taken one set in every match they have played to date.
Best Bet to Make
The book has Kudermetova taking set one at +188, and I think that’s an excellent offer. As stated, Kudermetova has always won at least one set in her matches with Shnaider, and she’s 1-0 on clay this year. Neither woman is playing well, and this match lends itself to three sets.
That being said, P. Kudermetova to win Set 1 is a value bet for sure.
