Amanda Anisimova Western & Southern Open

WTA Charleston Day 2 Predictions Including Amanda Anisimova vs Veronika Kudermetova

Ten exciting matches are scheduled on Day 2 of the WTA Credit One Charleston Open, including the start of second-round matches. This article features former champion Veronika Kudermetova and two former semifinalists, Amanda Anisimova and Maria Sakkari. As always, we at LWOT will offer predictions for every match on the slate. But which players will advance?

WTA Charleston Day 2 Predictions

Erika Andreeva vs Louisa Chirico

Head-to-Head: first meeting

Louisa Chirico came through a tough three-setter in the second round of qualifying and will play her first main draw match of the season. Winning even a single match would be huge for the American this week, and she has a small chance against Erika Andreeva, who has struggled for form this season and has very little experience on clay. However, the clay courts here in Charleston play more like a hard court, and Andreeva will back herself to get the win.
Prediction: Andreeva in 3

Maria Sakkari vs Marina Stakusic

Head-to-Head: first meeting

Maria Sakkari hasn’t found any rhythm so far this season, as she is yet to win consecutive matches. She was also unlucky to face Coco Gauff back-to-back at the Sunshine Doubles and will hope for a more successful week. Sakkari reached the semifinal at the Charleston Open last year, and an early exit would cause her to drop further in the rankings. Marina Stakusic received a wild card and will play only her second main draw tournament of the season. Her form coming into the tournament isn’t great and won’t be enough against Sakkari if she doesn’t step up massively.
Prediction: Sakkari in 3

Amanda Anisimova vs Veronika Kudermetova

Head-to-Head: Anisimova 0-2 Kudermetova

Amanda Anisimova is playing some of the best tennis of her career this season, and this feels like the perfect opportunity for her to get a win against Veronika Kudermetova. The faster green clay should complement Anisimova’s powerful game, but it won’t be easy against a player she has never won a set against. Kudermetova had a dominant first-round performance and has a great record at this tournament. However, I feel like this is going to be Anisimova’s moment.
Prediction: Anisimova in 3
