ATP 250 Adelaide final
Auger-Aliassime – Korda: 11.01.2025 08:30 CEST
H2H: 2-1
Felix Auger-Aliassime has won four of his last five matches. The young Canadian started this season by playing in the United Cup. He lost his opening match against Coric but defeated Fritz shortly after that.
Here in Adelaide, Felix won his opening match against Cazaux after losing the first set 1-6. Felix stepped up his level and turned the match easily around. After that, in the quarterfinals, Felix defeated Giron in straight sets. He was great under pressure, saving all nine breakpoints. This time, Felix performed his best tennis when it was most important. Today, in the semifinals, Felix defeated the first seed, Tommy Paul, in three tight sets after spending almost three hours on the court. Felix saved a set point in the first set and won after a tough tiebreak. In the second set, Auger-Aliassime was 2-0 up and had a chance to close out the match easily. However, Tommy played an incredible set and won convincingly 6-3. Felix held his service games comfortably in the deciding set and won 6-4.
Around this time last year, Felix played in Auckland, losing in the opening round against Altmaier in straight sets. This will be his 11th final. So far in his career, Felix has won five titles.
Sebastian Korda has won four of his last five matches. The last match he played before the ATP Adelaide was at the US Open last August. Since then, Sebastian has not played any competitive matches. Korda underwent surgery on his right elbow, which is why he skipped the second part of the 2024 season.
Here in Adelaide, Sebastian won his opening match against Davidovich Fokina in straight sets. Sebastian looked great on the court. He performed great under pressure, saving all five breakpoints. Thanasi Kokkinakis withdrew from his quarterfinal clash against Korda, so Sebastian proceeded into the semifinals without having to play. He needed to rest his body for the upcoming matches as he was out for a while. Today, in the semifinals, Korda defeated Kecmanovic in straight sets. This time, Korda offered no breakpoints and served well throughout the match. Korda is close to returning to the top 20 in the rankings, where he also belongs.
Last year in Adelaide, Korda reached the semifinals, losing against Lehecka in straight sets. Sebastian has played six finals and won two titles so far in his career.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Korda is the slight favorite in this matchup. Both players served great this week, and we expect a tight match that could go either way. Felix and Sebastian will hold their service games easily, and we expect at least one tiebreak with a possible three sets. Both players are weak on return, so we believe that they will clear the over-game line easily.
That being said, over games is a value bet.
