WTA Adelaide Day 2 Predictions Including Katerina Siniakova vs Diana Shnaider

The final week before the first Slam of 2025 has started in earnest, and players will do everything they can to be prepared for the Australian Open. The draw is stacked at the WTA Adelaide International as some of the seeds look to play themselves into shape in time for the first Slam of the year. As always, we here at LWOT will offer our predictions for every match on the slate for Day 2. But who will advance?

WTA Adelaide Day 2 Predictions

Madison Keys vs Beatriz Haddad Maia

Head-to-Head: Keys 2:2 Haddad Maia

Keys impressed early at the ASB Classic last week but missed key chances in her quarterfinal loss to Clara Tauson. Injuries have limited her since last summer, but her power game remains dangerous when clicking. Haddad Maia, meanwhile, struggled at the United Cup with losses to Gao Xinyu and Laura Siegemund, continuing her inconsistent results from 2023. Keys’ aggressive shot-making gives her the edge if she stays consistent, but Haddad Maia’s defensive skills could make this a tight battle. Slight edge to Keys in straight sets.
Prediction: Keys in 2

Liudmila Samsonova vs Marie Bouzkova

Head-to-Head: Samsonova 2:2 Bouzkova

Samsonova is still searching for her first win since the US Open, struggling with early exits, including a first-round loss to Polina Kudermetova in Brisbane. Bouzkova, meanwhile, has started strong in Australia, reaching the Brisbane quarterfinal after wins over Jelena Ostapenko and Victoria Azarenka before falling to Aryna Sabalenka. While Samsonova edged their last meeting at the US Open despite trailing by a set and a break, Bouzkova’s current form and confidence make her the slight favorite this time. Expect a close match, but Bouzkova will have just enough to prevail.
Prediction: Bouzkova in 3

Maria Sakkari vs Linda Noskova

Head-to-Head: Noskova 1:0 Sakkari

Maria Sakkari enters this match searching for form after a tough start to 2025. The former World No. 3, now outside the top 10, lost in the qualifying rounds to Peyton Stearns but secured a lucky loser spot. Her injury-plagued 2024 ended with a retirement at the US Open, and she has yet to regain consistency. Linda Noskova, meanwhile, opened her season with a solid win in Brisbane before falling to the in-form Mirra Andreeva. The Czech has proven dangerous in Australia, reaching the 2023 Adelaide final and going deep in Brisbane and Melbourne last year. Given her strong record in Australia and Sakkari’s struggles, Noskova holds the edge.
Prediction: Noskova in 2

Katerina Siniakova vs Diana Shnaider

Head-to-Head: First Meeting

Katerina Siniakova has started her 2024 season impressively, qualifying for the Adelaide main draw with straight-set wins over Cristina Bucsa and Ashlyn Krueger. Diana Shnaider, meanwhile, had a less than ideal start to the season after has quickly risen into the top 15 she lost her season opener to Anhelina Kalinina in Brisbane, she will look to rebound here and should have just about enough to guarantee a win against Siniakova given the gulf of the quality of tennis both women can produce at the peak.
Prediction: Shnaider in 2
