The final of the third edition of the United Cup is set, and it’s a blockbuster matchup between two strong teams. The 2023 winners of the U.S.A. will take on 2024 finalists from Poland.
The first match is between world No. 3 Coco Gauff and world No. 2 Iga Swiatek. In the men’s singles, Taylor Fritz will take on Hubert Hurkacz. The same players will then play the doubles match if necessary. As always, we at LWOT will offer predictions for every match on the slate. But who will lift the title?

Head-to-Head: Fritz 3-1 Hurkacz
Taylor Fritz saved two match points in the semifinals against Tomas Machac and won the match due to the retirement of the Czech player. Fritz showed his class as he was down a break in the second set but improved his level from there on to gain the lead. However, he will need to do better behind his second serve against Hurkacz, who has gotten better with each match.
Hurkacz easily defeated Alexander Shevchenko in the semifinals and will hope for another solid performance. Fritz has had the upper hand in this rivalry, but the matches have been close, and I expect another tight battle. Both have great serves, but Fritz has the advantage from baseline.

Coco Gauff vs Iga Swiatek
Head-to-Head: Gauff 2-11 Swiatek
The head-to-head is heavily in favor of Iga Swiatek in this matchup, as she has dominated the American player over the years. However, Coco Gauff won their last encounter in straight sets and couldn’t be in better form to face the world No.2. Gauff is yet to drop a set at this year’s United Cup and has looked brilliant. Even the double faults have been in control.
On the other hand, Swiatek has lost a set but will be thriving with confidence after winning against Elena Rybakina in the semifinals. That was a big win for Swiatek, and she will be hungry to take revenge for the loss at the WTA Finals. This should be a close one, but the matchup still favours Swiatek.

Coco Gauff and Taylor Fritz vs Iga Swiatek and Hubert Hurkacz
Head-to-Head: First meeting
The outcome of the doubles match will most likely determine the champions. Both teams are powerful and have excellent chemistry. It will come down to which team can execute better under pressure and raise their game when it matters the most. I am leaning towards the American duo, but it could be anyone’s match.
