WTA Auckland has been affected by rain delays, but the semifinals are finally set, and there is a very interesting set of matchups to look forward to. The biggest name is Naomi Osaka by far, with the Japanese superstar looking to return to her top level this year.
A few years ago, she would be an overwhelming favorite in this field, but she has been struggling a lot since she returned to the circuit in 2024, and at this point, she is far from a lock to win this title. The other three players are also looking to start their season with a trophy and will do their best to get it at WTA Auckland.

Clara Tauson vs Robin Montgomery

Both players have had great runs this week and have a great chance to win a title this week. Tauson is generally the far higher-ranked player, showing her better consistency. For that season, she is definitely the favorite here. Still, Montgomery has been playing excellent tennis this week and can make it close and even pull off an upset here.

Naomi Osaka vs Alycia Parks

2025 is a vital year for Osaka, who desperately tries to get back into Slam contention. Starting with a title year would be the perfect platform for a big year, and she is a big favorite to do it on paper. At her best, she is far above the remaining field, it’s a question of whether or not she can find that level again, which in 2024 she only did very sporadically at best. Still, Osaka will surely be eager to win a title and give everything to get it done, so it would not be smart to bet against her here.
