Maia Challenger Best Bets Including Passaro vs Janvier

Franceso Passaro won his first Challenger Tour title this week.

Maia Challenger 1/16-Finals

Passaro – Janvier: Time TBA
H2H: 1-0

Francesco Passaro has lost three of his last five matches. Last week in Montemar, Budkov Kjaer upset Passaro in three tight sets. The Italian is fighting to get into the top 100 in the rankings. His most significant results were on the clay courts. The last big result was over two months ago, when he won the challenger title in Genova, winning against Munar in the final in straight sets. Before that, Francesco also won the challenger title in Turin, upsetting Musetti in the final.

Maxime Janvier has lost three of his last five matches. His last match was two months ago in Lyon, where he lost his opening match against Fonseca in three tight sets. So far this season, Janvier has been struggling on the court. He spent most of this season playing at the Challenger Tour level, where he has yet to have major success. Janvier reached his highest ranking in 2019 when he was ranked 170 in the world. Since then, Maxime has not improved his game and stayed constantly on the Challenger Tour level.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Passaro is the big favorite in this matchup, and we agree. Francesco is a better clay court player than Janvier. In their last and only head-to-head meeting earlier this season, Passaro dominated against Janvier, winning 6-1 6-2. We expect a similar outcome tomorrow as well.

That being said, Passaro winning in straight sets is a value bet.

Moro Canas – Shelbayh: Time TBA
H2H: first meeting

Alejandro Moro Canas has lost three of his last five matches. Last week in Montemar, Alejandro lost his opening match against Sanchez Jover in three tight sets. The Spaniard spent most of this season playing at the Challenger tournaments on clay. His last big result was winning the challenger tournament in Rome, defeating Gaubas in the final. He even qualified for the main draw tournament in Munich, where he upset Dominic Thiem in the opening main draw round.

Abedallah Shelbayh has lost three of his last five matches. Last week in Montemar, Shelbayh reached the quarterfinals, losing against Martin Tiffon in straight sets. Shelbayh had his most significant results this season on the hard courts. Last year in Jeddah, Shelbayh received a wild card for the Next Gen tournament. He even defeated Alex Michelsen, and put up a big fight against Medjedovic and Luca van Assche. However, Abedallah has yet to have any success on the clay courts.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Moro Canas is the slight favorite in this matchup. We believe that Moro Canas will be a better player on this surface. He has already defeated some of the top clay court players this season, so we think he will be confident coming into this match. He may not be in the best form right now, but Moro should be able to defeat Shelbayh easily tomorrow.

That being said, Moro Canas winning is a value bet.
