Nitto ATP Finals Turin Group A
Sinner – Medvedev: 14.11.2024 20:30 CEST
H2H: 8-7
Jannik Sinner has won 11 straight matches. The number one has also won 27 out of the last 28 matches. His last loss was over a month ago in Beijing, where he finished as the runner-up, losing against Alcaraz in three tight sets. After that, Jannik won the title in Shanghai, winning against Djokovic in the final in straight sets. He then proceeded to play in Saudi Arabia, where he won the exhibition tournament, winning against Alcaraz in the final, and securing himself 5.5 million euros in prize money. Here in Turin, Jannik looked rusty against de Minaur at the beginning of the match. However, Sinner ended up winning the match in easy straight sets. The Italian lost his serve at the beginning of the match, but after that, Sinner was unplayable. After that, in the second group match, Jannik defeated Fritz in straight sets as we predicted. Last year in the ATP Finals, Sinner reached the final, where he lost against Djokovic in straight sets. This has been the most successful season for the young Italian, who became just the fourth player to win two hardcourt Grand Slams in a single season. At the beginning of the season, Sinner won the Australian Open, coming back after being 0-2 down against Medvedev in the final. He then also ended up winning the US Open, winning against Fritz in the final.
Daniil Medvedev has lost four of his last five matches. Just a couple of weeks ago, Medvedev played in an exhibition tournament in Saudi Arabia, where he was absolutely demolished by Sinner in straight sets. Last week in Paris, Daniil lost his opening match against Popyrin in three tight sets. Medvedev was one of the favorites to win the title in Paris, but was just too inconsistent in his opening match. Here in Turin, Daniil lost his opening match against Fritz in straight sets. Medvedev played terribly under pressure. He was frustrated throughout the whole match, and also made a couple of double faults when it was crucial for him to hold the serve. Daniil ended the match with 17 winners and 24 unforced errors. After that, in his second group match against de Minaur, Daniil won in straight sets as we predicted. Last year in the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin, Daniil successfully made it into the semifinals. He defeated both Rublev and Zverev in straight sets. After that, in the semifinals, Daniil had no answer to Jannik Sinner, and eventually lost in three sets. So far this season, Medvedev had his biggest result at the beginning of the season, when he reached the final at the Australian Open, losing once again against Sinner in five tight sets, after being 2-0 up.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Sinner is the big favorite in this matchup. We believe that he is currently the best player in the tournament, and that he will win the title as well. Daniil has been struggling for the past couple of weeks, so we expect Sinner to dominate throughout the whole match, and win easily in straight sets.
That being said, Sinner winning in straight sets is a value bet.
