ATP Basel Semifinal Predictions
Ben Shelton vs Arthur Fils
Head-to-head: Shelton 1-1 Fils
Ben Shelton defeated the top seed, Andrey Rublev, to set up a blockbuster match with Arthur Fils in the semifinals. These two played a great match in Tokyo recently, and fans will hope for a similar battle. Fils won against a very good, Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarterfinals and extended his ATP 500 win streak to 13. Fils is getting better and better in clutch situations and was playing at an extremely high level towards the end of the second set against Tsitsipas.
Shelton displayed some clutch tennis too against Rublev and saved six break points. Fils has improved his return game, as evidenced by his win over Shelton in Tokyo, where he limited the American to free points behind the first serve. The Frenchman took a bad loss in Shanghai but this week he looks focused and is one win away from securing a new career high in rankings. Shelton will need to serve brilliantly to have any chance of winning.
Prediction: Fils in 3

Holger Rune vs Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard
Head-to-head: first meeting
In the past month, Holger Rune has demonstrated a resurgence in his performance and is now performing at the level, that is anticipated of him. The way he is playing, he should be the favourite to reach his second Basel final. Felix Auger-Aliassime is the only player who has defeated Rune in Basel but with him eliminated, Rune will fancy his chances to lift the title on Sunday. However, Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard will have other plans.
It is a nightmare to play against someone like Perricard who doesn’t give anything on serve. One or two mistakes can cost the set against him. But Perricard isn’t the best returner and baseliner which gives Rune the edge. Perricard won’t give much rhythm but Rune should prevail if he can stay focused.
Prediction: Rune in 3
