However, he lost against Musetti in the first round as we predicted. Here in Shanghai, Zizou defeated Zhang in straight sets in the opening round. Bergs has not had any remarkable results this season. However, he was consistent throughout the whole season, which led to him cementing his top 100 status. Last year, around this time, Zizou played in Astana, where he failed to qualify for the main-draw tournament.
Grigor Dimitrov has won four of his last five matches. The last match he played was in the Laver Cup, where he defeated Tabilo in straight sets. With his recent solid results, Dimitrov made an excellent return to the top 10. Right now, Grigor is fighting to qualify for the ATP finals. Last year in Shanghai, Dimitrov reached the semifinals, where he lost against Rublev in straight sets.

According to the bookies, Bergs is the underdog in this matchup. We believe that these conditions are perfect for him, so we expect him to fight hard and keep this match tight. On the other hand, Dimitrov has had some fitness issues recently, so we are not sure if he is going to be 100% fit for this match.

Matteo Berrettini has won four of his last five matches. Last week in Tokyo, Matteo reached the 1/8-Finals, where he retired mid-match against Fils due to an abdominal injury. Here in Shanghai, Matteo defeated O´Connell in tight straight sets as we predicted. Considering his injuries, Berrettini did not play many matches this season, but has done a great job in almost every single tournament. Matteo won four championship matches, and lifted three titles this season.
Holger Rune has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Tokyo, Holger reached the semifinals, where he was upset by Fils in two tiebreaks. Fils ended up winning the tournament, so it was not a bad result for the young Dane. Rune is looking for a solid result this week, to get closer to the top 10 in the rankings. Last year in Shanghai, Rune played his worst tennis. He lost against Nakashima 6-0 6-2 in the opening round, and looked terrible on the court.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, this should be a 50-50 match. We believe that Berrettini will come into this matchup fully confident after his first round win. On the other hand, Rune struggled this whole season, so we believe that he will be nervous on the court, especially after his loss last year here in Shanghai.
That being said, Berrettini winning is a value bet.
