WTA Guadalajara Quarterfinal Predictions Including Caroline Garcia vs Marie Bouzkova

Marie Bouzkova in action ahead of the WTA Seoul Open.

There are four fascinating WTA Guadalajara quarterfinals scheduled. The 2022 WTA Finals winner, Caroline Garcia, faces a tough challenge against the recent Citi DC Open runner-up Marie Bouzkova. We at LWOT give our predictions and analysis for all the matches, but which four players do you think will reach the semifinals?

WTA Guadalajara Quarterfinal Predictions

Martina Trevisan vs Olivia Gadecki

Head-to-head: First meeting

Gadecki played very well to overcome Danielle Collins in the last round, damaging the American’s hopes of qualifying for the WTA Finals. Trevisan will make life awkward for Gadecki. The Italian usually struggles on hardcourts, but she enjoys the high-bouncing conditions in Guadalajara, reaching the quarterfinal for the second year in a row. This is a tough one to call, but the speedy conditions in Mexico have helped Gadecki’s clean ball striking, and she may have enough firepower to overcome Trevisan.
Prediction: Gadecki in 3

Camila Osorio vs Kamilla Rakhimova

Head-to-head: Osorio 2-0 Rakhimova

These two had differing paths to this stage. Rakhimova benefited from Victoria Azarenka retiring in the last round, while Osorio staged a remarkable comeback from 0-5 down in the third set against Veronika Kudermetova. Osorio’s excellent fitness and getting a day off between matches means recovering from that is unlikely to be an issue for her. She has also troubled Rakhimova with her grit and topspin forehand in their previous meetings, making her the favorite.

Magdalena Frech vs Marina Stakusic

Head-to-head: Stakusic 1-0 Frech

In the previous round, Stakusic saved four match points to defeat the 2017 French Open champion, Jelena Ostapenko. Unlike Osorio, she does not get a day off after that significant victory, which could make recovering mentally and physically challenging. Frech is adept at extending the rallies and making her opponents work hard, making the challenge even tougher for Stakusic.

Caroline Garcia vs Marie Bouzkova

Head-to-head: Bouzkova 4-0 Garcia

Watching Garcia’s first match since splitting from her longtime coach, Bertrand Perret, in the last round against Ena Shibahara was interesting. She was noticeably more patient in the rallies and also adopted a less aggressive return position. Although reigning in her previously ultra-aggressive approach seems wise, this is still a tough matchup for her. Bouzkova is one of the best at extending the rallies and generating mistakes from her opponent. Garcia has struggled against her in their previous meetings, and her level in recent months makes breaking that trend a tough ask.
Prediction: Bouzkova in 2
