Goffin won his first round match against Tabilo in straight sets. Yesterday, David defeated Mannarino in the second round as we predicted. Last year in New York, Goffin lost in the first qualifying round against Novak.
Tomas Machac has lost three of his last five matches. Here in New York, Machac defeated Fognini in straight sets in the first round. Machac lost his serve only once. Other than that, Tomas had an excellent serving performance throughout the whole match. This win was also his first main-draw win here in New York. Yesterday in the second round, Machac upset Korda in straight sets. Tomas was unstoppable from the very start of the match. Last year at the US Open, Machad lost in the final qualifying round against Gojo in straight sets.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Machac is the slight favorite in this matchup. Both players showed solid tennis. However, Tomas looked great in both of his matches, so we believe that he will be a better player on the court. Goffin usually underperforms later in the tournament.
That being said, Machac winning is a value bet.

Gabriel Diallo has won five straight matches here in New York. Diallo fought successfully through the qualifying tournament. After that, in the first round of the main-draw, Diallo defeated Munar in four tight sets. Yesterday in the second round, Gabriel upset Fils in four sets yet again. This is the biggest result of his young career. With this result, Diallo is currently ranked 103 in the world.
Tommy Paul has won three of his last five matches. Paul dominated in his opening match against Sonego. Besides losing the third set 5-7, Paul looked sharp throughout the whole match. After that, in the second round, Purcell retired in the third set against Paul. The Americans are expecting a lot from him, especially because he will have the help of the home crowd. Last year in New York, Tommy reached the 1/8-Finals where he lost against his fellow American, Ben Shelton, in four sets.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Paul is the big favorite in this matchup. Tommy is considered to be one of the biggest favorites here in New York. Diallo showed great tennis, but he is yet to face a top 20 player. We believe that Tommy will dominate from the very start, and win this match easily given his experience and skills.
That being said, Paul winning in straight sets is a value bet.
