ATP Cincinnati Best Bets Including Sinner vs Michelsen

Jannik Sinner in action at the Australian Open.

ATP Masters 1000 Cincinnati 1/16-Finals

Sinner – Michelsen: 14.08.2024 18:30 CEST
H2H: first meeting

Jannik Sinner has won three of his last five matches. The world number 1 was struggling with the disease earlier this month. Last week in Montreal, Jannik reached the quarterfinals where he lost against Rublev in three tight sets. The Italian was not 100% fit, and looked tired on the court. Rain interruptions forced him to play two matches in one day, so it made things more complicated for him. That being said, Jannik did not defend the title in Montreal. Last year in Cincinnati, Jannik lost in the second round of the tournament against Dusan Lajovic.

Alex Michelsen has won three of his last five matches. Here in Cincinnati, Alex fought through the qualifying tournament and got into the main-draw successfully. In the first qualifying round, Alex defeated Bergs in three tight sets. In the final qualifying round, Michelsen won against McDonald in straight sets. It was a great performance from the young American. In the first main-draw round, Michelsen won against Griekspoor in three sets.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Sinner is the big favorite in this matchup, and we agree with that. However, with his current health issues, we are still not sure if he is 100% fit. On the other hand, Michelsen played great tennis so far here in Cincinnati. We believe that he will be able to keep this match tight.

That being said, Michelsen covering the games handicap is a value bet.

Value bet/ the best odds: Alex Michelsen +5.5 games handicap @1.67 @bet365

Baez – Thompson: 14.08.2024 21:30 CEST
H2H: 1-0

Sebastian Baez has won three of his last five matches. Before the Masters in Cincinnati, Baez took some time off after the Olympic Games. Here in Cincinnati, Sebastian showed great tennis in his first round performance against Giron. Baez was great under pressure, and won the most important points of the match. Sebastian was 1-4 down in the deciding tiebreak, but managed to turn the match around. Being an Argentinian, Baez usually plays on the slow clay courts. However, he adapted to the surface quickly.

Jordan Thompson has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Montreal, Thompson lost in the second round against Zverev in straight sets. Jordan stood no chance against the German, and played overall a low-quality match. Here in Cincinnati, Thompson won his first round match against Humbert in three tight sets. He spent almost three hours on the court. Last year in Cincinnati, Jordan reached the 1/16-Finals where he lost against Alcaraz in three tight sets.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Thompson is the slight favorite in this matchup. We believe that he is overall a way better hard court player than Baez. Sebastian is a great clay court player, but he tends to underperform on the fast surfaces.

That being said, Thompson winning is a value bet.

Value bet/ the best odds: Jordan Thompson winning @1.57 @bet365
