ATP Montreal Day 3 Predictions Including Sebastian Korda vs Taylor Fritz

Sebastian Korda Australian Open

Day 3 at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Montreal will see the debut of many of the seeds, including a return to the tour from Hubert Hurkacz after his Wimbledon injury ,and an all-American matchup between Sebastian Korda and Taylor Fritz. It should be a very exciting day of tennis in Canada, full of high quality and unpredictable matches.

ATP Montreal Day 3 Predictions

Hubert Hurkacz vs Thanasi Kokkinakis

Head-to-head: Hurkacz 3-1 Kokkinakis

The head-to-head favors Hurkacz, but all their matches have been very close and full of tiebreaks (7 in 10 sets). Kokkinakis has been playing really well so far in Montreal, both in qualifying and against Monfils in the first round, while Hurkacz is just returning from injury, so this might well be a perfect opportunity for the Aussie to score a rare big win over a top 10 player here.
Head-to-head: Kokkinakis in 3

Casper Ruud vs James Duckworth

Head-to-head: first meeting

American hard court Masters aren’t usually a happy hunting ground for Ruud but he is a very clear favorite here, even if Duckworth played quite well to beat Giron in round one after only making it to the main draw as a lucky loser. Ruud’s solidity and consistency from the back of the court should be too much for the Aussie to handle here.
Prediction: Ruud in 2

Ugo Humbert vs Nuno Borges

Head-to-head: Humbert 1-0 Borges

Both players have been steadily rising recently, but so far Humbert has shown far more potential in terms of titles and big wins. At times, he looks like a top 10 player even if the consistency is lacking. He played at an amazing level in the first round here against Fils and if he can reproduce that he should be able to overcome Borges here as well.
Prediction: Humbert in 2

Sebastian Korda vs Taylor Fritz

Head-to-head: Fritz 2-0 Korda

Fritz has so far dominated this head to head, but Korda is high off winning the biggest title of his career last week at Washington and will be extremely motivated here. It should be a very close match, with the winner having a very good chance of at least reaching the quarterfinals here. Fritz is generally the more consistent player of the two, but momentum seems to be on Korda’s side right now.
Prediction: Korda in 3
