ATP Hamburg Best Bets Including Zverev vs De Jong

ATP Hamburg finalist Alexander Zverev in action.

ATP 500 Hamburg 1/16-Finals

Seyboth Wild – Zhang: 16.07.2024 Time TBA
H2H: first meeting

Thiago Seyboth Wild has lost three of his last five matches. Last week, Seyboth Wild retired mid-match against Kun in the first round of the challenger tournament in Braunschweig. Before that, Seyboth Wild reached the second round at Wimbledon where he lost against Rune in four sets. So far this season, Thiago has played 19 clay court matches and has a losing 8-11 record. The injuries have ruined this season, but he is still looking to get into the top 70. Last year in Hamburg, Seyboth Wild entered the main-draw tournament as a qualifier. After that, Thiago lost in the first round against Kovalik in straight sets.

Zhizhen Zhang has lost four of his last five matches. His last match was at Wimbledon, where he lost against Struff in the second round. His last clay court match was at the French Open where he lost in the third round against Stefanos Tsitsipas. The Chinese had some great performances this season on clay. He is looking to break into the top 30 in the rankings. Last year in Hamburg, Zhang reached the semifinals where he lost against Laslo Djere in straight sets.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Zhang is the slight favorite in this matchup. We are not sure if Thiago will be fit enough for this matchup. Zhang showed great form on the clay courts this season, so we believe that he will get the job done.

That being said, Zhang winning is a value bet.

Value bet/ the best odds: Zhizhen Zhang winning @1.62 @bet365

Zverev – De Jong: 16.07.2024 Time TBA
H2H: first meeting

Alexander Zverev has won three of his last five matches. Last week, Zverev reached the 1/8-Finals at Wimbledon where he lost against Fritz in five sets as we predicted. Alexander was 2-0 up, but lost the match in the end. In the press conference, Zverev said that he was injured, so we are wondering how he will look here in Hamburg. His last clay court match was at the French Open where he lost against Alcaraz in the final as we predicted. Last year in Hamburg, Zverev won the title without losing a set.

Jesper de Jong has won four of his last five matches. This is the best season of his career. De Jong is looking to get into the top 100. Here in Hamburg, de Jong won both of his qualifying matches in straight sets. Before that, de Jong won the challenger title in Sassuolo, winning against Altmaier in the final in straight sets. Jesper spent most of his time playing at the challenger tour level.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Zverev is the big favorite in this matchup. He is definitely mentally exhausted after losing against Fritz at Wimbledon. De Jong is in great form, and he has played a lot of clay court matches recently. We believe that he will keep this match tight.

That being said, de Jong covering the games handicap is a value bet.

Value bet/ the best odds: Jesper De Jong +5.5 games handicap @1.75 @bet365
