ATP Wimbledon quarterfinal
Djokovic – de Minaur: 10.07.2024 16:00 CEST
H2H: 2-1
Novak Djokovic has won four of his last five matches. Less than a month after knee surgery, Novak won his first round match at Wimbledon, winning against Kopriva in straight sets. Vit stood no chance, and Novak has shown that he is here to win. After that, Novak had it tough against Fearnley in the second round of the tournament. Djokovic won in four tight sets. In the third round, Novak lost the first set against Popyrin. However, once he stepped up his game, Novak was unstoppable. His on-court movement looks great again. Popyrin played a very solid match, but it just was not enough for Novak. Djokovic defeated Rune in the 1/8-Finals in straight easy sets. Once again, Novak dominated from the very start. He offered only two breakpoints, and saved both of them. Even though the crowd was not on his side, Novak stayed composed, and won the match easily. After Sinner lost today against Medvedev, Djokovic became the second-biggest favorite to win Wimbledon. So far this season, Nole is yet to win against the top 10 players. Last year at Wimbledon, Djokovic lost in the final against Carlos Alcaraz in five tough sets.
Alex de Minaur has won four of his last five matches. Three weeks ago in London, de Minaur lost in the first round against Lorenzo Musetti. Just a week before that, Alex lifted the trophy in Hertogenbosch where he won against Sebastian Korda in the final. Here at Wimbledon, de Minaur won against Duckworth in three tiebreaks as we predicted. It was a rollercoaster match, but de Minaur was overall a better player. After that, in the second round, de Minaur won against Munar yet again in three sets. De Minaur lost his serve three times in the third set, but still managed to win the set. Unfortunately, Pouille retired before his third round match against de Minaur. That being said, de Minaur was well rested for his 1/8-Finals meeting against Fils. Alex won that match in four easy sets as we predicted. So far at Wimbledon, de Minaur has lost only one set. We have yet to see him face a great grass court player. Alex got lucky with the draw, as he faced two clay court players, and Duckworth, who is outside the top 70. A few weeks ago, de Minaur reached the quarterfinals at the French Open. This time, de Minaur will play on his favorite surface, so we believe that he will be dangerous. Last year at Wimbledon, de Minaur lost in the second round against Matteo Berrettini.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Djokovic is the big favorite in this matchup. Looking at both players, de Minaur is currently in better form. He has played a lot of grass court matches this season already, and has lost only one set so far in the tournament. We believe that he will keep this match tight.
That being said, de Minaur covering the games handicap is a value bet.
Value bet/ the best odds: Alex de Minaur -4.5 games handicap @2.00 @bet365
