This week’s ATP Los Cabos event features a very strong field, with the seeds making their debut on this third day of the tournament, including last year’s champion Stefanos Tsitsipas, who has dropped out of the top 10 after almost five years and will be looking to get back on track. As always, we at LWOT have the preview and prediction for all matches in Los Cabos. But who will advance?
ATP Los Cabos Day 3 Predictions
Marcos Giron vs Casper Ruud
Head-to-head: Ruud 1-1 Giron
Giron had two very good weeks on US hardcourts, with a final in Dallas and a semifinal in Delray Beach, while Ruud is returning to the tour after a third-round loss in Australia. On a hard court, this should be a close match, and given his current form, Giron has an excellent chance to win, especially if he has a good serving day.
Prediction: Giron in 3
Emilio Nava vs Jordan Thompson
Head-to-head: first meeting
This might not be a particularly glamorous match on paper, but it should be very interesting. Nava has been playing well so far at ATP Los Cabos, even in qualifying, while Thompson has been a solid ATP player for some time now and is currently at his career-highest ranking of No. 40. All things considered, Thompson should have the edge here.
Prediction: Thompson in 2
Rinky Hijikata vs Aleksandar Kovacevic
Head-to-head: first meeting
Hijikata has been slowly rising up the rankings and looks primed to go further up this year. Kovacecic, on the other hand, is 25 and has so far failed to make any real impact on the ATP tour. He had a fortunate draw at ATP Los Cabos in round one, but under normal circumstances, his run will come to an end here.
Prediction: Hijikata in 2
Aleksandar Vukic vs Stefanos Tsitsipas
Head-to-head: first meeting
Out of the top 10 for the first time in almost 5 years, Tsitsipas will be eager to get back on track by defending his title here in Los Cabos. The Greek has been struggling for quite a while, but he’s still one of the most talented players on tour and will almost certainly be able to return to the top 10 and compete for big trophies soon. This first round shouldn’t pose much of an issue for him.
Prediction: Tsitsipas in 2
