ATP Paris Masters Day 3 Predictions Including Alexander Zverev vs Ugo Humbert

Alexander Zverev in action ahead of the ATP Vienna Open.

It’s time to wrap up the second round of the 2023 Rolex Paris Masters. Plenty of seeds may be in danger on Wednesday as most of them face tricky opposition. Hubert Hurkacz seems to be running low on steam and has a losing head-to-head against Roberto Bautista Agut. Daniil Medvedev lost a set to Grigor Dimitrov just last week. Alexander Zverev was almost out in round one to Marton Fucsovics. Who do you think will survive this slate full of upset alerts at the ATP Paris Masters?

ATP Paris Masters Day 3 Predictions

Hubert Hurkacz vs Roberto Bautista Agut

Head-to-head: Bautista Agut 3-1

Hubert Hurkacz seemed to be in big trouble against Sebastian Korda, dropping the second set after serving for it and looking gassed. He also wasn’t 100% in his Basel final last week. But the determination is there as the fight for Turin qualification continues. Roberto Bautista Agut used to give him trouble in the past and is an opponent who will make him rally. But the Spaniard is just coming back after an injury, so maybe Hurkacz can serve his way out of at least one more match.

Daniil Medvedev vs Grigor Dimitrov

Head-to-head: Medvedev 6-2

Grigor Dimitrov beat Lorenzo Musetti in the opening round at Vienna last week and then lost to Daniil Medvedev. He must be having a serious case of deja vu right now, as that’s precisely his draw in the first two matches at the ATP Paris Masters as well. The Bulgarian is enjoying a very consistent season that’s somewhat lacking in terms of the highlights. He defeated Carlos Alcaraz recently, though, and Daniil Medvedev has sometimes been vulnerable in Paris after going deep the week before (last year a good example). Maybe this is Dimitrov’s moment.

Prediction: Dimitrov in 3

Alexander Zverev vs Ugo Humbert

Head-to-head: Zverev 1-0

Ugo Humbert famously has a very good record against the top 10, now standing at 9-10. He will have a chance to bring it right back to 50% when he takes on Alexander Zverev in the second round at the ATP Paris Masters. The Frenchman suffered a big ranking fall in 2022, but is basically back up there now, almost at his career-high. He likes the conditions here (made the quarterfinals in 2020) and given Zverev’s shaky performance against Marton Fucsovics, can easily pull off the upset again.

Prediction: Humbert in 3
