ATP Shanghai Quarterfinal Predictions Including Andrey Rublev vs Ugo Humbert

Andrey Rublev ahead of ATP Halle

As we approach the weekend in Shangai, just two quarterfinal matches remain. Grigor Dimitrov is coming off a massive victory over Carlos Alcaraz and will look to keep that momentum rolling against Nicolas Jarry. In the match of the day, Andrey Rublev and Ugo Humbert square off for the second time in as many weeks. We at LWOT have the preview and prediction for both remaining ATP Shanghai quarterfinal matches. But who will advance to the semis?

ATP Shanghai Quarterfinal Predictions

Grigor Dimitrov vs Nicolas Jarry

Head-to-Head: Dimitrov 0-2

A lot will be on the line when Grigor Dimitrov and Nicolas Jarry square off at ATP Shanghai on Friday. Dimitrov is looking for his first Masters semifinal appearance in 17 months. Jarry is looking for his first Masters semifinal period. The 28-year-old Chilean is amidst a career year that has him one win away from breaking into the top 20. His blistering serve has been a massive advantage on the Shanghai courts. Jarry holds the 2-0 head-to-head record over Dimitrov, including a 7-6 6-1 victory earlier this year in Geneva. That said, Dimi is playing arguably his best tennis of the season this week. He is coming off a three-set win over Carlos Alcaraz and moving confidently around the court. He should be able to block back enough serves to put pressure on Jarry and ultimately win this match.

Prediction: Dimitrov in 3

Andrey Rublev vs Ugo Humbert

Head-to-Head: Rublev 3-2 Humbert

Consistency. It is the one word to describe Andrey Rublev’s career. The 25-year-old Russian, on the brink of qualifying for his fourth consecutive ATP Finals, has reached at least the quarterfinals of every Slam and 7/9 Masters events. He is 16-6 at the Masters level this year and is now the favorite to win his second such event. Ugo Humbert, having taken down Stefanos Tsitsipas in Round 2 of ATP Shanghai, stands in Rublev’s way. Humbert is back in the top 30 for the first time in over two years. He had a disastrous 2022 campaign but showed his incredible talent and baseline prowess in the win over Tsitsipas. In this matchup, I see Rublev’s power and ball-striking ability proving too tough for the Frenchman.

Prediction: Rublev in 2
