Wimbledon Day 6 Women’s Predictions Including Aryna Sabalenka vs Anna Blinkova

It should be an entertaining sixth day at the Championships with eight intriguing third-round match on the slate at Wimbledon. As always, we here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for every match on the slate, including Aryna Sabalenka vs Anna Blinkova. But who will book their place in the second week?

Wimbledon Day 6 Women’s Predictions

Elena Rybakina vs Katie Boulter

Yesh: Katie Boulter is in the midst of a great run right now, and the home crowd is loving it. But all good things have to end, and Elena Ryakina is just way too strong.

Prediction: Rybakina in 2

Andreas: This match represents Great Britain’s last hope at this year’s Championship, in the singles draw at least. Rybakina played some decent tennis in her first-round match, but didn’t face a ton of pressure despite the close scorelines. She’ll automatically face pressure by virtue of the home crowd. Boulter could make this close, but her past two matches indicate she’s not at the peak of her powers.

Prediction: Rybakina in 2

Jordan: Boulter will have vociferous crowd support as the only British player left on the men or women’s side. Rybakina has looked comfortable and at ease in her first two matches. My gut feeling is she will get a stern test here but come through it.

Prediction: Rybakina in 3

Ekaterina Alexandrova vs Dalma Galfi

Yesh: What a run it’s been from Dalma Galfi. But Ekaterina Alexandrova is very underrated. Don’t be tempted here. The Russian is in good form and should advance.

Prediction: Alexandrova in 2

Andreas: Alexandrova lost a heartbreaker the last time she made a third-round appearance, and she’s struggled to break past the third-round hurdle. This is a nice opening for her, however. While Alexandrova played very messy tennis against Brengle (91 errors!), she should have recovered enough to play better tennis in what is a big match. Galfi could potentially capitalize if Alexandrova chokes in some of the key moments, that tends to be the Russian’s achilles heel and something that’s held her back.

Prediction: Alexandrova in 2

Jordan: Both players have shown their mental strength thus far. Alexandrova won her second round in a final set tiebreak, while Galfi has won both her matches from a set down. Alexandrova is higher ranked, but I have a feeling Galfi’s crafty game style could undo her.

Prediction: Galfi in 3

Anastasia Potapova vs Mirra Andreeva

Yesh: The legend of Mirra Andreeva continues, even if it was aided by injury. And it’s going to get better, because her game is going to give Potapova fits.

Prediction: Andreeva in 3

Andreas: Andreeva is turning into the new wonder-kid character, taking Coco Gauff’s title as the new young star to watch. Despite the 16 year old’s second-round win happening by retirement, her 6-3 4-0 lead was full of destructive tennis. Potatpova had a great season towards the middle of the year, but Andreeva is playing too good right now. Nerves got in the way for her when she tried to make the French Open second week, and she’ll be more prepared now.

Prediction: Andreeva in 2

Jordan: The 16-year-old sensation Andreeva keeps creating headlines with wins and her likeable personality. Alexandrova won her first two rounds comfortably, and I think her big game will knock out the teenager, but we know she will be back many times.

Prediction: Alexandrova in 2

Bianca Andreescu vs Ons Jabeur

Yesh: Bianca Andreescu doesn’t look 100% now, but she’s playing well and seems healthy enough. That should get her through most women in the world, but Ons Jabeur isn’t most women.

Prediction: Jabeur in 2

Andreas: This could either be a messy match, or a thrilling third-round encounter. Jabeur looked solid enough in her first two matches, but they weren’t against the strongest opponents. On the other hand, Andreescu had to battle against tougher opposition, scraping through in three sets on both occasions. Notably, her win over 26th seed Kalinina was a fantastic display of mental toughness. Giving the edge to Jabeur, who just has been in better form overall.

Prediction: Jabeur in 3

Jordan: Jabeur has won her opening rounds the most comprehensively of all the favourites for the title. She looks ominously good. Andreescu has a dangerous game, but not dangerous enough to stop Jabeur in this mood. Jabeur to win comfortably again.

Prediction: Jabeur in 2
