Day 3 at the ATP event in Halle will feature two Top 10 players in Stefanos Tsitsipas and Daniil Medvedev, both having grass as their weakest surface but looking to finally get a big Wimbledon result. It will also feature the likes of former Wimbledon semifinalist Roberto Bautista Agut and last week’s finalist Jan-Lennard Struff, in what should be a great day of tennis, full of high quality action.
ATP Halle Day 3 Predictions
Brandon Nakashima vs Roberto Bautista-Agut
Head-to-head: first meeting
Both players have a good track record on grass, with Nakashima proving his quality on the surface last year at Wimbledon. However, they seem to be on very distinct paths right now, with Nakahsima steadily rising and Bautista-Agut steadily declining. It should be a close match either way, but the American starts as a slight favorite in this one given recent form.
Prediction: Nakashima in 3
Roman Safiullin vs Jan-Lennard Struff
Head-to-head: Safiullin 1-0 Struff
Struff came tantalizingly close to a first career title last week, but eventually came up short in back to back tiebreaks. He had already come very close to the title in the Madrid Masters 1000, but again couldn’t close it out. He’s playing the best tennis and having the best season of his career but sadly has nothing to show for it. He is a very good player on grass, though, and playing at home he’ll once again try to get that maiden title and should be a heavy favorite in this match.
Prediction: Struff in 2

Daniil Medvedev vs Laslo Djere
Head-to-head: Medvedev 1-1 Djere
Medvedev isn’t particularly comfortable on grass, but the same is truth of Djere and Medvedev is simply the far superior player in general. Although he has greatly disappointed at both Slams, he’s arguably been the best player in the world in 2023 at best of three level. He should have no issues advancing here.
Prediction: Medvedev in 2
Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Nicolas Jarry
Head-to-head: Tsitsipas 1-1 Jarry
Jarry actually won when the pair faced on grass last year and he will have chances to do so again, but Tsitsipas seems to be slowly improving on the surface and should have enough to make it through this one, even if a few tiebreaks might be required given his weak return of serve on this surface.
Prediction: Tsitsipas in 3
Alexander Zverev vs Denis Shapovalov
Head-to-head: Shapovalov 3-2 Zverev
Zverev will surely be disappointed by how his Roland Garros campaign ended, but a semifinal was still an encouraging result given his post-injury struggles. Shapovalov has been having a really rough 2023 and seems more lost and inconsistent on court than ever. Zverev is certainly the steadier player of the two and that gives him the edge here.
Prediction: Zverev in 3
