We are left with two men in Delray Beach as American Taylor Fritz and Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic will battle for the Delray Beach Open title. Both players have been in control this week and should enter Sunday’s final with confidence. These two should put on an offensive show for the fans, but who will emerge victorious?
ATP Delray Beach Final Prediction
Taylor Fritz vs Miomir Kecmanovic
Head-to-Head: Fritz 3-1 Kecmanovic
No. 1 seed Taylor Fritz squares off against No. 4 seed Miomir Kecmanovic in the Delray Beach final. This will be the fifth meeting between the two, with the American holding the 3-1 head-to-head record. That said, Kecmanovic got the better of Fritz in their most recent meeting, a 3-6 6-1 6-4 come-from-behind victory in Miami last year.
Fritz comes into this final having yet to drop a set in three matches this week. While his play has not been overly dominant, the top-ranked American is starting to find some rhythm after an early exit in Melbourne. Kecmanovic enters this final relatively unscathed as well. The Serbian has dropped just one set this week and has been playing a confident brand of tennis.
Both players exhibit a great amount of consistency from the baseline. While Fritz has the advantage in power, Kecmanovic does not mind defending out of the corners. Unlike some of Fritz’s previous opponents, the 23-year-old Serb is adept at forcing you to hit multiple extra shots in each point. Kecmanovic is one of the best players on Tour when it comes to transitioning from defense to offense.
I expect this to be a back-and-forth final between two very clinical players. I give the slight advantage to Fritz for two reasons. First, the American crowd should help him through any tense moments. Secondly, his blistering serve is the ultimate equalizer and will be a difference-maker in any potential tiebreaks.
Prediction: Fritz in 3
