ATP Buenos Aires Final Prediction: Carlos Alcaraz vs Cameron Norrie

Carlos Alcaraz in action ahead of the French Open

Logic has prevailed this week at the ATP event in Buenos Aires, with the top two seeds making it to the title decider. After injury sidelined him from the Australian Open, making him lose his #1 ranking, Carlos Alcaraz made his 2023 debut here in Buenos Aires and it’s safe to say he hasn’t disappointed so far. Cameron Norrie had a disappointing performance in the first Slam of the season but has also been solid this week in Buenos Aires.

ATP Buenos Aires Final Predictions

Carlos Alcaraz vs Cameron Norrie

Head-to-head: Alcaraz 3-1 Norrie

Alcaraz had an incredible 2022, capturing his first Slam title in New York and finishing the year world #1. Unfortunately injury sidelined him from the Australian Open, which led to him losing his position at the top of the rankings to Novak Djokovic, but he seems to have picked up right where he had left off and has been dominant so far this week. Not only is Alcaraz the clear cut favorite to win the title here this week, he’s expected to win many more and bigger titles this year as he will among the top favorites for every single Grand Slam and Masters 1000.

Although Norrie is a solid and consistent player, there’s absolutely no doubt that the outcome of this match is firmly on Alcaraz’s racket; even in the one time he lost to Norrie last year in Cincinatti, Alcaraz dictated the vast majority of exchanges and fell victim to his own errors. Judging by the level he has been showing so far this week, it’s hard to imagine Alcaraz failing to capture his first (of surely several) title of the year here in Buenos Aires. Norrie has done well to reach the final here after his disappointing early loss at the Australian Open, but it’s highly likely that he will lose his second final of the year, after his defeat against Richard Gasquet in Auckland (in a match where he was favored).
Prediction: Alcaraz in 2
