US Open Day 2 Predictions Including Andrey Rublev vs Laslo Djere

Laslo Djere in action ahead of the ATP Sardinia Open

British #1 Cameron Norrie and Andrey Rublev are two of the top players in action at the 2022 US Open, we have predictions for every match at the US Open on day 2 including Rafael Nadal’s match.

Cameron Norrie vs Benoit Paire

Damian Kust: Is this the last Slam main draw for Benoit Paire? We’ll see, but the Frenchman basically hasn’t been himself since the pandemic. It’s highly doubtful he can win three sets against someone of Cameron Norrie’s class at the moment. Norrie in 3

Steen Kirby: At 5-24 on the season, there’s not much hope for Benoit Paire in this one, he’s still collecting main draw checks at some events but his ranking has plummeted due to poor performance. Norrie is 41-20 on the season and the elite British player on tour right now. He was a semifinalist at Wimbledon, and Cincy, and reached the Los Cabos final in between. Norrie in 3

Grigor Dimitrov vs Steve Johnson

Damian: Grigor Dimitrov has recently struggled with his fitness, including at Wimbledon when he retired to… Steve Johnson. The two have quite a history with each other and it’s usually been close. If Dimitrov’s struggling, the American is fully capable of taking this. Johnson in 5

Steen: 16-14 on the season, Johnson has found some success but it’s been inconsistent, Dimitrov is a similar 20-18 and this pair have met a lot. Johnson is playing in his home slam so small advantage to him with both players capable shotmakers but struggling for consistency from both sides of the court. Johnson in 5

Andrey Rublev vs Laslo Djere

Damian: Laslo Djere finally broke his tie-break streak and reached the final at Winston-Salem. It took a lot out of him physically though and he’s still not a prime hard-courter. Andrey Rublev should handle this one fairly comfortably. Rublev in 3

Steen: A semifinalist in Washington with 36 wins this year, Rublev has made bank defeating lower ranked players like Djere this season. Djere reached the final in Winston-Salem though and has found some good form, fatigue may be a factor, I could see him taking a set and making it interesting but fading off from there. Rublev in 4

Miomir Kecmanovic vs Learner Tien

Damian: Learner Tien is very mature for his age and this will be a great experience for him. However, players like Miomir Kecmanovic are usually terrible matchups for juniors. The Serbian’s consistency is just brutal for youngsters who usually can’t maintain a steady level just yet. Kecmanovic in 3

Steen: Learner Tien will have an opportunity to learn against Miomir Kecmanovic, a top junior, Tien looks quite outmatched against the experienced and seeded Serbian Kecmanovic. Kecmanovic reached the semis in Los Cabos this summer and should cruise here. Kecmanovic in 3
