The US Open is looming large on the horizon and the four men who are still standing at the ATP Cincinnati Masters will all surely have high hopes of a deep run in New York. For now though, it is the chance to win a Masters 1000 title that matters most. As always, we here at LWOT are offering our preview and prediction for both semifinals, but who will come out on top?
ATP Cincinnati Semifinal Predictions
Borna Coric vs Cameron Norrie
Head-to-head: Coric 1-1 Norrie
What a fantastic tournament Borna Coric is having and what a great year Cameron Norrie has had. The Croatian, who started his tournament with a 7-6 6-3 win over Lorenzo Musetti, built built on his upset of Rafael Nadal in the second round by subsequently taking out two more high quality opponents in Roberto Bautista Agut and Felix Auger-Aliassime. Unfortunately for Coric, none of those players, even the great Nadal, are in the form Norrie is in.
The Briton will climb to a career-high world #8 if he wins this semifinal encounter and there’s every reason to think that he will. Norrie has been playing world class tennis this year and the fact that he finally conquered Carlos Alcaraz after beating the Spaniard in the quarterfinals shows how much he has grown in this year itself. Expect Coric to come out firing but as Norrie’s groundstrokes start to settle, he should be the one consistently winning points.
Prediction: Norrie in 3

Daniil Medvedev vs Stefanos Tsitsipas
Head-to-head: Medvedev 7-2 Tsitsipas
A must watch blockbuster on paper, the match might not live up to its expectations. It’s no secret Stefanos Tsitsipas doesn’t much like playing Daniil Medvedev especially on hard courts. They have met nine times so far in their careers and Medvedev has won seven of those encounters. The Greek has been clinical in his performances so far but it still feels like he’s not there at his best yet.
Medvedev is returning to his favourite part of the season and he’s slowly but surely playing himself into the form that took him to his first Grand Slam title last year in New York. His ruthless dismantling of Taylor Fritz in the last eight was a masterclass in hard court tennis and he now faces an opponent who he knows how to beat. Expect a one sided affair to the tenth instalment of the rivalry.
Prediction: Medvedev in 2
