WTA Washington Day 4 Predictions Including Emma Raducanu vs Camila Osorio

Emma Raducanu in action at the US Open.

The final four quarterfinal spots at the WTA Citi Open in Washington, D.C. will be decided on Day 4. The heat has been a major factor this week as players have to be strong both mentally and physically to come out victorious. The match of the day on the WTA side is between 19-year-old Emma Raducanu and 20-year-old Camila Osorio. We at LWOT have the prediction for that match and all other happenings around the grounds of the Citi Open. Who will come out on top?

WTA Washington Day 4 Predictions

Donna Vekic vs Xiyu Wang

Head-to-Head: first meeting

Donna Vekic will square off against 21-year-old Xiyu Wang with a spot in the Citi Open quarterfinals on the line. Both Vekic and Wang are on the hunt for their second tour-level quarterfinal appearance of the year after dispatching their round one opponents in straight sets. Although Vekic favors the hard court as her favorite surface, this will be just her third match of the year on it. I do not see much separating the current form of these two players. I give the slight edge to Wang who has proven to be a better three-set player this season.
Prediction: Wang in 3

Victoria Azarenka vs Tereza Martincova

Head-to-Head: Azarenka 1-0 Martincova

Former World #1 Victoria Azarenka is looking to find some form after having not taken the court since Roland Garros. The 33-year-old did not miss a beat in her 6-4 6-0 round one drubbing of Dayana Yastremska. She will now square off against Tereza Martincova, who is just 12-17 on the season. The Czech native had a strong 2019-2021 seasons but has struggled to string together match wins this year. I do not see her breaking that trend against Azarenka, who has thrived on fast hard courts over her career.
Prediction: Azarenka in 2

Ajla Tomljanovic vs Ludmilla Samsonova

Head-to-Head: Tomljanovic 1-0 Samsonova

Ajla Tomljanovic and Ludmilla Samsonova will be squaring off after winning their first-round matches in straight sets over opponents with higher rankings. Their only previous matchup saw the Australian come out victorious 6-2 6-4 on the indoor hard courts of Moscow. This is the first tournament for Tomljanovic since her quarterfinal run at Wimbledon. I like her to take the momentum of her Wimbledon run and have a strong North American hard court swing.
Prediction: Tomljanovic in 3

Emma Raducanu vs Camila Osorio

Head-to-Head: first meeting

#2 seed Emma Raducanu and Camila Osorio will be squaring off for the first time on day four in Washington DC. Separated in age by just 11 months, these two next-gen players will likely do battle for many years to come. With that said, neither Raducanu nor Osorio have had a strong season. A quarterfinal appearance in DC would go a long way in building confidence for both players ahead of the final Slam of the season. Raducanu and Osorio won their round one matches in straight sets and should be ready for what I foresee as a three-set battle. I will, however, give the slight edge to Raducanu who holds slightly better form.
Prediction: Raducanu in 3
