The ATP Umag final pits young guns Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz against one another on the clay. This final has a lot to offer tennis fans, here is your prediction for the match from Croatia.
Jannik Sinner vs Carlos Alcaraz
Two of the top ATP World Tour talents, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner will meet for the 4th time in their still young careers. Alcaraz leads the h2h 2-1, but Sinner won their most recent matchup at Wimbledon. On the clay both players are able to play some of their best tennis and showcase their games. Alcaraz is in a second straight ATP final (he lost the ATP Hamburg final to Italian Lorenzo Musetti), he had a tough time against Giulio Zeppieri, winning in three sets against the Italian qualifier in the semifinals, his previous two matches in Umag were straight sets victories. Overall he’s now up to #4 in the ATP World Tour live rankings and could repeat as champion in Umag with a win in this final (the victory would add to his 4 ATP titles this season).
Sinner defeated countryman Franco Agamemone in straight sets in the semifinals, his other two wins this week also came in straights and he’s playing some comfortable tennis on clay right now. This is his first ATP final of the season, but his game looks more secure than Alcaraz right now who has been in a bit inconsistent at times this week. I look for Sinner to even the h2h and win his first title of the season. Sinner in 3
