We are down to eight in the singles draw at the ATP Geneva Open as players look to grab a clay-court title before the eyes of the tennis world shift over to Paris for the 2022 French Open. Only two of the original eight seeded players remain in what is a very wide-open draw. As always, we here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for all four matches, but who will reach the last four?
ATP Geneva Quarterfinal Predictions
Reilly Opelka vs Tallon Griekspoor
Head-to-head: Opelka 1-0 Griekspoor
After three straight first-round losses to kick off his European clay-court season, Reilly Opelka finally picked up a win over Christopher O’Connell in Geneva. The American tallied 13 aces in his 6-3 7-5 victory. Tallon Griekspoor, meanwhile, defeated Tommy Paul and Johan Nikles to set up this quarterfinal matchup. He is 5-3 on the clay this season. This will be just the second meeting between Opelka and Griekspoor with Opelka beating the Dutchman 7-5 6-3 in the first round of French Open qualifying back in 2018. Griekspoor should have what it takes to break the Opelka serve on the clay. If he can get this one to a deciding set, Griekspoor will have the clear advantage over the American who is likely looking ahead to Paris.

Richard Gasquet vs Kamil Majchrzak
Head-to-head: first meeting
Veteran Richard Gasquet ousted Daniil Medvedev 6-2 7-6 in the second round to reach his fourth quarterfinal of the season. Though Medvedev was returning from a six-week injury layoff and the match was on clay, the Frenchman should be feeling very confident in his current form. His quarterfinal opponent, Kamil Majchrzak, is into just his second quarterfinal of the season after impressive wins over Alexander Bublik and Marco Cecchinato earlier this week. Majchrzak has never been a great clay-court player but has shown a liking for these courts in Geneva. With that said, former World top-tenner Gasquet is very tough to beat when he holds this level of confidence.

Ilya Ivashka vs Joao Sousa
Head-to-head: Sousa 2-0 Ivashka
Ilya Ivashka and Joao Sousa both enter this quarterfinal matchup with a lot of confidence after their second-round performances. Ivashka picked up one of the best wins of his career beating Denis Shapovalov 6-4 6-7 6-3. Sousa bested Nikoloz Basilashvili 6-4 6-3. This is both players’ second quarterfinal appearance of the season. Sousa has a proven track record of clay-court success that may well help him come out on top against Ivashka.

Casper Ruud vs Thanasi Kokkinakis
Head-to-head: Kokkinakis 1-0 Ruud
Casper Ruud started his Geneva Open title defense with a straight-forward 6-3 6-1 win over Benoit Paire. Ruud, who started slowly on the clay this season, has since won four of his last five matches. Thanasi Kokkinakis, meanwhile, has enjoyed a resurgence on the tour this season and is in fine form this week after wins over Fabio Fognini and Federico Delbonis so far in Geneva. The Australian typically goes how his serve goes, and it has looked good thus far. With that said, Casper Ruud is rounding into form right before the biggest clay-court tournament of the season. He should roll here.
