It’s an all-American final at the 2026 ATP Halle Open in Germany as Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe defeated Alexander Zverev and Daniel Altmaier, respectively, to set up their first-ever meeting on grass. This is the biggest final on this surface for either player, and fans can expect a thrilling match. As always, we at LWOT will offer predictions for this final, but which player will lift the trophy?
ATP Halle Final Prediction
Taylor Fritz vs Frances Tiafoe
Head-to-head: Fritz 7-1 Tiafoe
Fifth seed Fritz put an end to French Open champion Alexander Zverev’s 10-match win streak to reach back-to-back finals on grass. It was a close match as it always is between these two, but Fritz once again won the crucial points to make it seven wins in a row against the German. He will be more than happy with his preparation for Wimbledon, but at first, he will be eyeing another title on this surface after losing the final in Stuttgart last week.
Tiafoe had to save three match points against Felix Auger-Aliassime, but it was much more straightforward in the semifinals as he lost just four games against Daniel Altmaier. He was clutch in both converting and saving break points and will play in his second tour-level final on grass. Tiafoe has been dialled in this season, and these results prove it.
Fritz has dominated this matchup for years, winning the last seven. Tiafoe’s only triumph came over a decade ago in Indian Wells, and his major challenge has been consistency. Fritz’s serve is more consistent, and he can rely on it when under pressure. Both players are comfortable on grass and like the low bounce and fast nature. Tiafoe can be streaky and play great tennis, but he can also have dips and in a final, Fritz’s consistent offense will put more pressure.
Prediction: Fritz in 3
