Another day of non-stop tennis action lies in wait on Tuesday at the WTA Chicago Classic. The tennis was high quality on Monday and day two’s action should be no different. WTA Chicago Classic Day 2 Predictions
Hailey Baptiste vs Jasmine Paolini
Head-to-head: first meeting
It’s hard not to side with Jasmine Paolini here. The young Italian may be best known for her exploits on the clay, but she just won her first tour-level title on hard courts in Portoroz and will surely be full with confidence coming into this week as a result. Hailey Baptiste can be a tricky opponent and is capable of causing problems at her best, but inconsistency remains an issue for the American. Regardless, Paolini’s level has been sufficiently high in recent weeks that she should advance here comfortably enough.

Maria Osorio Serrano vs Tereza Martincova
Head-to-head: Osorio Serrano 1-0
This match is hard to call. Both players are trying to establish themselves as regulars on the main tour and have had purple patches of play in recent weeks, without quite finding the desired level of consistency over the course of the season. Tereza Martincova has a bigger game that is better suited to hard courts, but Osorio Serrano has proved she can make life difficult for big hitters with her defensive ability and court craft. Still, if she plays as well as she can, Martincova should have the edge here.

Madison Brengle vs Anett Kontaveit
Head-to-head: Kontaveit 3-0 Brengle
This should be a pretty one-sided match if it goes true to form. Anett Kontaveit just won her second title of the year and did so in superb style by blasting through Maria Sakkari in straight sets. That was in Ostrava in Czechia, leaving her relatively little turn around time, but although Brengle is a solid player but doesn’t have the level to live with the Estonian when she is in this kind of form. That is reflected by their head-to-head with Kontaveit having won all three of their previous matches.

Danielle Collins vs Misaki Doi
Head-to-head: Collins 1-0 Doi
The Danielle Collins freight train hasn’t looked much like slowing down in recent weeks. The American, who won back-to-back titles in Palermo and San Jose, did stumble across the three biggest events of the North American hard-court swing, but she looked to be in great form in her first-round win over the veteran Kirsten Flipkens. In Misaki Doi she faces a tricky test, but one that ultimately should be negotiable for a player of her ability. The Japanese has not been at her best for a while and it is hard to see her really troubling Collins here.
