WTA Rome Day 4 Predictions Including Garbine Muguruza vs Elina Svitolina

Garbine Muguruza French Open Day 4

Day 4 is another busy day of WTA tennis in Rome. The last opportunity for many players before heading into the second Major of the year. Who will win today and who will fall? We also predict the rest of the day’s matches in a second article.

WTA Rome Day 4 Predictions

Karolina Pliskova vs Vera Zvonareva

Head-to-head: Zvonareva leads 1-0

Red clay is clearly not Pliskova’s favorite surface. The former world no.1 has struggled in all her clay tournaments this year and will be facing an in-form veteran, Vera Zvonareva. The 36-year-old Russian came through qualifying and has already won four matches here, including a massive win over Petra Kvitova last round. Expect a close match, but Zvonareva pulling through in the end.

Coco Gauff vs Aryna Sabalenka

Head-to-head: 1-1 tied

A tough match for Gauff as she will be facing a very in-form Aryna Sabalenka. The talented young 17-year-old has still got a lot to learn on how to play on clay, but she will not go down without a fight. This will be a good match to see where Gauff’s level is at, but Sabalenka will go through to the next round here without much problems.
Prediction: Sabalenka in 2

Nadia Podoroska vs Petra Martic

Head-to-head: First meeting

Can Podoroska continue her amazing run here–she just beat Serena Williams–and now beat Petra Martic? We have seen over and over again players suffering a “hangover” over a win against a top player and are unable to follow-up their victory the next day. Perhaps we will see one here again in Rome tomorrow?
Prediction: Martic in 3

Garbine Muguruza vs Elina Svitolina

Head-to-head: Svitolina leads 7-5

Even though Svitolina leads their head-to-head here, their last meeting on clay was in 2019 at the French Open where Muguruza won comfortably in straight sets. This time around, it won’t be in straight sets, but Muguruza should get through in a three-set nail-biter.
Prediction: Muguruza in 3
