WTA Adelaide International Final Prediction
Belinda Bencic vs Iga Swiatek
Head-to-head: First meeting
Both players have been in exceptional form and both have a good chance of capturing a title this week. Bencic was especially exceptional in her semifinal match against Coco Gauff who in which the Swiss star closed out in a three setter 7-6(2) 6-7(4) 6-2. Many expected that match to be a three-set tussle between the two young stars, and Bencic was able to compose herself throughout the match and find a way to advance to the final.
Her opponent, Iga Swiatek, is yet to drop a set all week. The 19-year-old Pole experienced a retirement in her quarterfinal match against Danielle Collins, so had a slightly easier route to the final, but has been playing well this week nevertheless. The Pole blasted her way through another Swiss player, Jil Teichmann, in impressive fashion in her semifinal amtch.
It will be a tough match for both players and they will both be hungry to win their first title of the season. Swiatek will come in as the slight favorite simply because of her form in the past few months, whereas Bencic has been a bit up and down with her results as of late. Expect an exciting three-set match that will be a pleasure to watch. Ultimately, though, look for the more consistent and more powerful player right now to come through. That means Swiatek should be able to pull off a victory.
Prediction: Swiatek in 3
