ATP Antalya Open Day 4 Predictions Including Fabio Fognini vs Jeremy Chardy

Fabio Fognini in action ahead of the ATP Antalya Open

The second round will be completed on Sunday in Antalya and there are a number of interesting matches on the slate, with two of the ATP’s top 20 set to be in action. But who will advance to the quarterfinals at the ATP Antalya Open?

ATP Antalya Open Day Four Predictions

Hugo Grenier vs Jan-Lennard Struff

Head-t0-head: first meeting

Hugo Grenier scored his maiden tour-level win this week, taking out qualifier Alex Molcan.  As a reward for that victory, he earned the right to take on Jan-Lennard Struff in what will be the first match against a top 50 opponent in his career. The German didn’t look rusty against Pavel Kotov and this match will almost certainly be decided by how well he plays. Struff has a plenty of power and should be able to constantly keep Grenier on the back foot, especially in his own service games. An upset is unlikely here.

Matteo Berrettini vs Dimitar Kuzmanov

Head-to-head: first meeting

For Dimitar Kuzmanov, this is already the best week of his career. The Bulgarian qualified for this event, before scoring his first ATP main draw win over Laslo Djere via retirement. While the 27-year-old is playing the best tennis of his career at the moment, this is going to be a huge ask. Kuzmanov also hasn’t played a top 50 opponent yet and while Berrettini hasn’t been in particularly amazing form lately, the Italian’s huge serve and forehand combination can just win matches by itself. Especially against an opponent who probably isn’t ready for this kind of power yet.

Tristan Lamasine vs Alexander Bublik

Head-to-head: Lamasine 1-0 Bublik

Tristan Lamasine has got quite a bit of potential, but he’s rarely able to link together a few good matches in a row. Can his Antalya run bring a change to that? His win over Egor Gerasimov was of high quality but in tour-level events, the bar only goes higher. Alexander Bublik might not be the most consistent player and can lose his temper extremely easily, but he looked sharp in the first round against Salvatore Caruso. Both players aren’t known for keeping a steady level but if Bublik keeps his focus, he should be the one to come out as the victor.

Prediction: Bublik in 3

Fabio Fognini vs Jeremy Chardy

Head-to-head: Fognini 5-1 Chardy

This is an interesting rivalry that dates back to 2012. After playing only a handful of events in 2020, Jeremy Chardy showed up to beat Radu Albot in the first round in what was one of his best performances in a while. On a bad day, the Frenchman can be an unforced error machine though. But so can Fabio Fognini, whose unstable mentality makes him often lose interest and motivation during a tennis match. This could be really up and down, with crazy momentum changes all over the place. After a solid opening win, Fognini’s shot-making might just be enough to get him through.

Prediction: Fognini in 3
