The ATP Kitzbuhel Open 2020 is set for an exciting finish with only four men remaining in contention. Perhaps more interestingly, three of them are qualifiers and we are guaranteed that a qualifier will play the championship match.

We preview and predict both of the semifinals scheduled at the ATP Generali Open 2020.

ATP Kitzbuhel Open Semifinal Predictions

Marc-Andrea Huesler vs Miomir Kecmanovic

Head to head – First Meeting

Let’s take a moment to give credit to Marc-Andrea Huesler. The Swiss has been proving me wrong since the tournament began and he’s been doing so in some style. So far Huesler has taken out the top seed Fabio Fognini and a seasoned veteran in Feliciano Lopez. While Fognini was visibly struggling, Huesler’s win over Lopez was a testament to the fact that the lefty Swiss plays intelligent tennis.

He now takes on a player who’s just 21 and hasn’t looked back since his win over Kei Nishikori in the first round. Miomir Kecmanovic has been improving a lot since last year and the Serb has a very tenacious attitude on the court. Expect a cracking first meeting between the two. Both players have been defending their second serves pretty well but one feels with Kecmanovic being a solid baseliner and quick around the court, the Serb should be able to win the longer baseline exchanges. Expect that to be the deciding factor that tilts the match in Kecmanovic’s favor.
Prediction: Kecmanovic in 3

Yannick Hanfmann vs Laslo Djere

Head to head – First Meeting

This semifinal is a must-watch for all tennis fans. Both of these players have come through qualifying and have compiled equally impressive wins so far. Laslo Djere looked in great nick when facing Diego Schwartzman in the quarter-finals and even though the Serb dropped his serve thrice, it didn’t deter him from getting the job done. The Serb is extremely compact from the baseline and is a player who has the experience of winning an ATP title. Perhaps for the Serb, in terms of unexpectedness and on current form, Yannick Hanfmann might be his toughest opponent yet this week.

Hanfmann has been on song this tournament, taking out Dusan Lajovic and Alexander Bublik on his way to the last four. More importantly, the German has been defending his serve well all week and if he can do so once against Djere, he has a great chance of reaching his first ever ATP main tour final. Expect the fairytale run for Hanfmann to continue with a hard fought win over Djere laced with brilliant baseline exchanges.
Prediction: Hanfmann in 3
