After a crazy Day 2 at the DraftKings All American Team Cup, which saw 2 players pull out and Team Stripes take a huge lead going into Day 3, let’s have a look at the matches and make our predictions.
Sunday will be the final day and both teams are still alive to win the tournament. Team Stars would have to go 3-1 to force a tiebreaker to decide the winner. It’s all to play for and we will have all the news, updates, and recaps as soon as the matches are done.
DraftKings All American Team Cup Day 3 Predictions
Sam Querrey vs Kevin King
Head to Head: First meeting
This match features a real test for both players as Sam Querrey will try to finish the tournament with a winning record while Kevin King will try for his first win. The only issue I foresee for this particular match is that King lefty serve might cause Querrey some problems.
Querrey, like John Isner, is a tall serving machine with a big forehand, so it might take an adjustment period but I feel King would need to play lights out to pull off the stunning upset. Look for much of the same result as in the first match for King, as I think Querrey will win easily.
Prediction: Querrey in 2
Tennys Sandgren vs Taylor Fritz
Head to Head: First meeting
Both players are coming off a loss in their previous match so they will both be wanting to finish the weekend strong. Fritz will want to rebound from his loss to Steve Johnson where he was up a set and serving for the match and totally imploded. Sandgren is coming off a loss to up and comer Chris Eubanks so look for that extra motivation to win.
Fritz inability to finish off matches could prove to be the x-factor of the match and Sandgren will want to capitalize on that. I feel also that Sandgren has more weapons with a bigger serve and forehand. Look for a tight match that has the potential to go three sets.
Prediction: Sandgren in 3
Steve Johnson vs Tommy Paul
Head to Head: 1-0 Johnson
Steve Johnson will be hoping for a more straight forward match this time around. Both of his matches have gone the distance and we might see fatigue as an issue for the California native. Tommy Paul will be looking to finish the weekend with his first win of the tournament.
Both players are grinders but I think Johnson has more weapons at his disposal and this match might be more straight forward. Look for the straight-sets win as Paul might be overmatched in this one.
Prediction: Johnson in 2
John Isner vs Christopher Eubanks
Head to Head: First meeting
This match could be very interesting and fun to watch. Two tall big-serving players going at it could prove to be a great match. This has the potential of a Isner-Karlovic or even Isner-Opelka. Both players also have huge forehands so breaks will be few and far between. Look for Isner experience as a top 20 player to carry him through this match.
Chris Eubanks will be looking for another huge upset and honestly at this point just his win today proved he can play with the big boys and as of right now has nothing to lose so expect him to go all out. I think we could potentially see 3 tiebreakers.
Prediction: Isner in 3
