The 2020 WTA Acapulco tournament is down to the final four with Mexico’s own Renata Zarazua facing qualifier Leylah Fernandez and Heather Watson taking on qualifier Xiyu Wang. Here are your predictions as to which surprising standouts will reach the final.
Renata Zarazua vs Leylah Fernandez
The storybook run of home player Zarazua continues, she upset Tamara Zidansek in three sets in the quarterfinals and is having one of the best runs of her career, buoyed by home support. Fernandez the qualifier has a chance to make it an all qualifier final if her and Xiyu Wang both win. Heather Watson vs Xiyu Wang
Watson is the most notable player left in the tournament field having slipped past Christina McHale in three sets in the quarterfinals. Wang is on a long streak of success however, she’s 7-1 in her last 8 matches and easily handled Lin Zhu 6-2 6-2 in the quarterfinals.
