Miomir Kecmanovic vs Lorenzo Sonego

Head to head – first Meeting

The Serbian Kecmanovic is into his first ATP Tour final and the way he accomplished that made it even more worth it. Arguably the match of the tournament so far, Kecmanovic scraped past Jordan Thompson, a man in form, in three close tiebreaker sets, 6-7(5) 7-6(5) 7-6(1). What’s been impressive about the Serb so far is his serve, particularly how well he’s protecting his second serve. In each of his four matches in Antalya, he has made close to 70% of his first serves and even when he’s not making them Kecmanovic wins an astounding 73% of the points on average. The Serb has dropped his serve only once in the whole tournament.

Rain wreaked havoc on the second semifinal with the winner facing the disadvantage of playing two matches on one day. But Sonego will surely be happy he got past Pablo Carreno Busta in straight sets in just over 12 minutes on the second day. The Italian hasn’t had it as easy as his counterpart toughing it out for his win over Prajnesh Gunneswaran and Adrian Mannarino. Lorenzo Sonego too is in his first ever ATP Tour final playing a near perfect match against Carreno Busta dropping his serve only once.

Both players seeking to make a mark on the tour and trying to achieve much-needed confidence boost heading to Wimbledon, this match will be viewed as a perfect opportunity to do just that by both. Kecmanovic wouldn’t be feeling particularly fresh after his marathon 2 hours 51 minutes semi-final but the Serb would be eager for the last push. Sonego has impressed but Kecmanovic’s serve and resolve will be tough to break.

Prediction: Kecmanovic in 2
