The business end of the ATP Estoril Open has arrived, with four intriguing quarterfinals on the schedule. A mix of established ATP stars, home hopes, and rising talents remain in the draw, setting up a day where confidence, clay-court instincts, and the ability to handle pressure will be tested. As always, we here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for every match on the schedule. But who will advance?
ATP Estoril Quarterfinal Predictions
Tiago Torres vs Hugo Gaston
Head-to-head: first meeting
Tiago Torres has been the story of the tournament so far. The Portuguese wildcard has thrilled the home crowd with composed, fearless tennis, backing up his opening-round win by upsetting third seed Alejandro Tabilo in straight sets to reach his first ATP quarterfinal. His willingness to step inside the baseline and dictate with his forehand has been impressive, especially for a player making only his second tour-level appearance.
Hugo Gaston, meanwhile, has looked equally convincing. The Frenchman dismantled compatriot Titouan Droguet with a near-flawless performance, using his trademark variety, angles, and drop shots to completely disrupt his opponent’s rhythm. While Torres has shown he belongs at this level, Gaston’s experience and creativity on clay should allow him to find solutions if the home favorite’s aggressive start begins to fade.

Roman Andres Burruchaga vs Alexander Blockx
Head-to-head: Burruchaga 2-0 Blockx
Roman Andres Burruchaga earned one of the biggest wins of his season by knocking out home favourite Nuno Borges, once again demonstrating why clay remains his strongest surface. The Argentine is an excellent mover and is comfortable extending rallies until the right opportunity appears, making him a difficult player to hit through.
Alexander Blockx has continued his impressive rise with another mature display to reach the last eight. The Belgian teenager has shown remarkable composure throughout the season, combining clean ball-striking with disciplined shot selection. His aggressive instincts should earn him plenty of opportunities, but Burruchaga’s consistency and patience on clay give him a slight tactical advantage in what should be a tightly contested battle.

Jaime Faria vs Luciano Darderi
Head-to-head: first meeting
Jaime Faria has continued his strong progress this season and will enjoy tremendous support from the Portuguese fans. The 22-year-old has looked increasingly comfortable at ATP level, using his heavy forehand and athletic movement to dictate play from the baseline. His confidence has grown with every match this week.
Luciano Darderi, however, remains one of the most reliable clay-court performers on the ATP Tour and has been in good form so far at ATP Estoril. The Italian has consistently produced deep runs on the surface over the past two seasons, relying on his heavy forehand and excellent physicality to wear opponents down. He rarely rushes points and is happy to grind through long exchanges until an opening appears. Faria has the game to make this competitive, but Darderi’s experience in these situations and proven success on clay should help him manage the key moments.

Andrey Rublev vs Luca Van Assche
Head-to-head: first meeting
Andrey Rublev appears to be settling nicely into the European clay swing after an inconsistent first half of the season. His forehand remains one of the biggest weapons on tour, and when he is controlling rallies from the middle of the court, few players can consistently absorb his pace. The Russian has also looked increasingly patient on clay, choosing his moments to attack rather than forcing the issue too early.
Luca Van Assche continues to develop into a dangerous clay-court competitor. The Frenchman moves exceptionally well and has the consistency to frustrate aggressive opponents, but he can sometimes struggle to generate enough penetration against the biggest hitters. Against Rublev, he will need to absorb relentless pressure while taking his limited attacking opportunities.
Rublev’s ability to dictate with his forehand and finish points on his own terms should prove decisive at the ATP Estoril Open. Van Assche is capable of extending rallies and making life difficult, but the Russian’s weight of shot gives him the tools to earn a place in the semifinals.
