Barbora Krejcikova in action ahead of WTA Athens.

WTA Athens Day 4 Predictions Including Barbora Krejcikova vs Carole Monnet

This Thursday at WTA Athens will feature the conclusion of the round of 16, with some very interesting matches in prospect. While Clara Tauson is the only top 30 player in the draw, the event has still produced some very nice tennis so far this week and this Thursday shouldn’t be an exception, it should definitely be a good day of tennis in the Greek capital. But who will advance?

WTA Athens Day 4 Predictions

Alina Korneeva vs Ann Li

Head-to-head: first meeting

Li hasn’t been getting good results lately but as the second seed in this tournament she has a great opportunity to make a deep run and get back on track. She played a solid first round and will once again be a clear favorite here. If she can maintain the level she showed in her opening match, she should be able to bat Korneeva at WTA Athens.

Prediction: Li in 3

Tereza Valentova vs Aliaksandra Sasnovich

Head-to-head: first meeting

Valentova hasn’t been playing well in recent months but has an excellent chance to gain some momentum back at WTA Athens. She played very well in the first round and now faces a much lower ranked player, even if Sasnovich is definitely far more dangerous than her ranking suggests and should be able to cause a lot of problems here.

Prediction: Valentova in 3

Clara Tauson vs Miriana Tona

Head-to-head: first meeting

On paper, this is the most one sided match of the entire tournament, with the #1 seed taking on a player ranked #384. As admirable as Tona’s campaign has been so far, all the way from qualifying, this will be a significant step up in level and she is highly unlikely to seriously trouble Tauson, who has an excellent chance to go all the way this week.

Prediction: Tauson in 2

Barbora Krejcikova vs Carole Monnet

Head-to-head: first meeting

Krejcikova might be very far from the level that saw her win two Grand Slam titles and be ranked as high as #2 in the world, but she should still have a massive advantage over her #205 ranked opponent regardless. Monnet played well in the first round, but this should be the end of the line for her.

Prediction: Krejcikova in 2
