The Championships at Wimbledon have reached the business end of its second week, with just four women remaining in the singles draw. Any of the four remaining players could lift the title, making this semifinal bout between Coco Gauff and Karolina Muchova that much more interesting. As always, we at LWOT offer our roundtable predictions. But who will advance to the Wimbledon final?
Wimbledon Semifinal Prediction
Coco Gauff vs Karolina Muchova
Ateet
Coco Gauff played her best match of Wimbledon to beat compatriot Jessica Pegula in three sets. She once again lost the first set, but her level from the second set onwards was simply outstanding, and Pegula had no answer. Gauff has enjoyed the matchup against Karolina Muchova in the past, with a 6-1 head-to-head advantage. Still, Muchova won their most recent encounter and that too on Gauff’s favorite surface. Muchova’s game becomes extremely dangerous on grass and will be a tough one for the American to handle. However, if Gauff plays as she did in the quarterfinals, she will win this.
Prediction: Gauff in 3

After never making the quarterfinals at Wimbledon before, Coco Gauff finds herself potentially just four sets away from the title this year. Up next is Karolina Muchova, a player whose court craft and groundstroke variety excel on grass. In isolation, Muchova is the more capable player on this surface. She plays attacking tennis, is one of the best volleyers on the women’s tour, and also has great movement. But ultimately, this is a stylistic matchup that Gauff has feasted on, using her superior defense and elite athleticism to frustrate Muchova time and time again.
I think this match goes to a third set, but given how Gauff has historically dominated this matchup, it is hard to see that changing here in what is one of the biggest matches of either player’s career so far.
Prediction: Gauff in 3
Jordan
Gauff has an excellent record against Muchova, including beating her in two Masters 1000 finals and a US Open semifinal. However, the Czech ended a run of six consecutive losses in this matchup in Madrid. I feel that Muchova’s best chance of beating Gauff is on Grass, where her serve and net game have the best chance of being effective. She is backed to reach a maiden Grand Slam final for that reason.
Prediction: Muchova in 2

Quite the match to call. On one hand, you have Muchova, who’s arguably been the most impressive player on grass this season, and on the other hand, you have Gauff, a player Muchova trails 1-6 on the head-to-head. It presents a mental hurdle that the Czech must overcome to even stand a chance. Encouragingly for her, her solitary victory was in their very last match.
Also, none of their previous encounters have been on this surface, which you feel should suit Muchova more. Additionally, Gauff has been shaky, having dropped a set in all her Wimbledon matches bar one, while for Muchova the reverse is the case. Muchova seems to have overcome her struggles at the end of tournaments, having already won two trophies this season. I expect that Gauff will severely test her resolve, but right now she seems to be in the zone, and coupled with her immense talents, winning these kinds of matches has been long overdue for her anyway.
Prediction: Muchova in 3
