Coco Gauff 2026 Wimbledon

Wimbledon Quarterfinal Predictions Including Coco Gauff vs Jessica Pegula

We are getting down to the business end of the 2026 Wimbledon Championships, and the first set of women’s quarterfinal matches should bring some scintillating tennis to SW19. Can Naomi Osaka do the unthinkable? Her next barrier is No. 10 seed Karolina Muchova. In the other quarterfinal, compatriots Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula square off for the ninth time. As always, we at LWOT offer our roundtable preview. But who will advance?

Wimbledon Quarterfinal Predictions

Naomi Osaka vs Karolina Muchova

Zain
Naomi Osaka had arguably the biggest result of her post-comeback era so far in the previous round when she made light work of world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka. Now against Karolina Muchova, this is a matchup in which Osaka has historically had some issues. The Japanese player relies on power baselining and big serving, both factors that can be negated by the variety and court craft Muchova brings to the table. Osaka has been playing at such a high level throughout Wimbledon that her winning would not be a shock at all, but I’m backing Muchova to come through in a tightly contested match.
Prediction: Muchova in 3

Ateet
Naomi Osaka defeated world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets, advancing to her maiden Wimbledon quarterfinal. Osaka had previously lost three matches to Sabalenka this season, making this victory all the more memorable. She has played the greatest tennis of anyone in the championships thus far and will be confident in her chances against anyone. Karolina Muchova, on the other hand, poses a different challenge as she lacks Osaka’s firepower, but her variety and change of pace are as effective, as evidenced by their previous grass encounter, in which Osaka retired midway through. However, I believe Osaka’s serve and game are on a different level currently.
Prediction: Osaka in 3

Andreas
This will be another enticing battle, and a classic contrast of styles. Osaka has defeated power-hitters with ease all fortnight, but the Japanese No. 1 will now have to face Muchova’s slices and her intriguing net game. Osaka brings her A-game in Grand Slam second weeks, and she’s been on court for far less time. Meanwhile, Muchova dramatically took the scenic route in a fourth round three-setter against Barbora Krejčíková, nearly collapsing from 7-5 6-2 up. I trust Osaka’s confidence the slightest bit more, and she’s on a roll after beating World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka.
Prediction: Osaka in 3

Coco Gauff vs Jessica Pegula

Zain
This all-American quarterfinal sees one of the most consistent players in recent seasons, Jessica Pegula, go up against Coco Gauff, who at Wimbledon is chasing a career Surface Slam. Both these players do their best work from the baseline, with Pegula looking to redirect and counterpunch, and Gauff relying on her elite athleticism to grind out points. I expect this match to go the distance, and what could end up being the deciding factor is that, despite not being a huge weapon, Pegula’s serve is far more consistent than Gauff’s. If Pegula takes the opportunities given to her in crucial moments, she should make the semifinals here.
Prediction: Pegula in 3

Ateet
For the third Wimbledon match in a row, Coco Gauff lost a set but found a way to win important points in the end and won the match. On paper, Belinda Bencic was her toughest challenge yet, but that will change in the quarterfinal. Jessica Pegula lost her first set of the tournament against Iva Jovic, but she was never in danger as she upped her level in the second and third sets. This is a huge match for both players, as neither has been to the semifinals here. Gauff’s ability to retrieve balls could frustrate Pegula, but Gauff’s second serve and forehand worry me more.
Prediction: Pegula in 3

Andreas
It’ll be interesting to see how Gauff’s weapons and confidence hold up, now that she has cleared a major hurdle: finally reaching a quarterfinal at Wimbledon. Pegula possesses the stronger forehand and cleaner serve, but Gauff’s scrappy game can beat anyone on any day. As doubles partners, the two understand each other very well, and they’ve yet to face off in a Grand Slam. Gauff has dug deep all tournament, but Pegula has brought a clean level to all of her matches that can’t be overlooked. This match can go either way, but Pegula should be the slight favorite to prevail.
Prediction: Pegula in 3
