Grigor Dimitrov in action at Wimbledon

Wimbledon Day 6 Men’s Predictions Including Grigor Dimitrov vs Matteo Berrettini

Expect plenty of entertaining tennis on day six at Wimbledon with eight intriguing third-round matches on the schedule at the Championships.  As always, we here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for every match on the schedule, including Frances Tiafoe vs Alexander Bublik, but who will live to fight another day at the All England Club?

Wimbledon Day 6 Predictions

Grigor Dimitrov vs Matteo Berrettini

Tope: Grigor Dimitrov and Matteo Berrettini renew their rivalry for the first time since 2019 — and their first-ever meeting on grass with the head-to-head locked at 1-1. Berrettini’s booming serve gives him the edge in the tightest moments, but Dimitrov’s grass-court craft and newfound resilience make him a live threat. Expect fireworks as this has the makings of the third round’s standout clash.

Prediction: Dimitrov in 5

Jordan: The sets will probably be decided by a few points. Both men were outstanding in the previous round, and this promises to be a stylish match because of their respective styles. Berrettini is a slightly more likely winner because of how he served in the previous two rounds. When the Italian serves like that, he is very hard to stop on grass.

Prediction: Berrettini in 4

Andreas: A vintage Dimitrov stunned Jakub Mensik in the second round, and he’ll have to take on another player returning to his best form. Both players have powerful forehands and tricky slice backhands, but the real difference in this match could be Berrettini’s hammer of a serve. The Italian won their most recent meeting, on a fast court indoors. I could see this match going either way, but the Italian has the dangerous weapons on these courts.

Prediction: Berrettini in 4

Alexander Zverev vs Marcos Giron

Tope: Marcos Giron backed up his Corentin Moutet win with a straight-sets dispatch of Quentin Halys, a far cleaner story than their five-set Roland Garros thriller back in 2020. Next up: Zverev, who’s rolling on a nine-match Slam win streak and dropped just one break point against Valentin Royer. History isn’t kind here, Zverev’s 4-0 head-to-head, 2-0 on grass, including a lopsided straight-sets win over Giron at Wimbledon two years ago, so expect the German to advance in straightforward fashion.

Prediction: Zverev in 3

Jordan: Giron’s best chance of causing an upset against Zverev is on grass. The American will try to disrupt the French Open champion on his least favorite surface by hitting his shots flat and low. I have a feeling that there will be a shock in this one.

Prediction: Giron in 5

Andreas: Zverev’s powerful serves and weapons have helped him move through the draw with ease. But he has come unstuck at Wimbledon before. Giron loves the baseline rallies and moves exceptionally well on fast courts, but this is too big a step up for the American. Look for the German to reach the second week, winning his fifth consecutive match in this head-to-head.

Prediction: Zverev in 3

Taylor Fritz vs Lorenzo Sonego

Tope: Taylor Fritz has been cruising, 19 aces, barely a break point in sight but Lorenzo Sonego’s four-hour marathon survival act proves he’s built for exactly this kind of grass-court ambush. History favors the American, who’s 6-2 head-to-head and already has an eight-years-ago comeback win over Sonego on this exact surface. Still, an explosive, in-form Sonego is the most dangerous puzzle Fritz has faced yet at SW19. This one won’t be serene.

Prediction: Fritz in 5

Jordan: Sonego is solid across all surfaces. I think he will fall short against Fritz, though. The 2024 US Open runner-up’s serve is challenging to stop on grass, and I doubt Sonego is the man to do it at Wimbledon.

Prediction: Fritz in 3

Andreas: This is the pair’s ninth meeting on tour, as Fritz has four wins in a row in this matchup. They faced off at Wimbledon in 2018, and since then, Fritz has established himself as a specialist on grass courts. Both players possess strong serves and won’t shy away from the net, but the American has more weapons and can show up for the crucial points.

Prediction: Fritz in 4

Alex de Minaur vs Zachary Svajda

Tope: Alex de Minaur rolls into the last 32 unbeaten in sets, and he’ll fancy his chances against Zachary Svajda’s flat-hitting flair. The American just outlasted a five-set battle with Kamil Majchrzak, so fatigue could be a factor after all that grass-court grinding. Expect De Minaur’s grit and big-match nous to see him through, even if Svajda makes him work for it.

Prediction: de Minaur in 4

Jordan: de minaur, with his flat shots and great return, is capable of a deep run at Wimbledon. The Australian’s relentless game should be enough to overcome Svajda with relative ease.

Prediction: de minaur in 4

Andreas: de Minaur is yet to drop a set at this tournament, and the Aussie should be able to time his groundstrokes against a fellow baseline specialist. Svadja is a gritty player rising the rankings, but he doesn’t have a huge serve and topspin that could force the Aussie into errors. Expect some fun rallies in this matchup.

Prediction: de Minaur in 4
