WTA Wimbledon first-round play begins. For many, this is the crown jewel of all tennis tournaments, known locally as The Championships. The women’s tournament begins with Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina as the top two seeds. Still, they are not playing well and are not entering the All-England Club with much of any confidence. Iga Swiatek is the defending champion but is not playing well, either. There are a lot of questions in the women’s tournament, and there is a real chance the tournament will be as unpredictable as the French Open was a few weeks ago, with Mirra Andreeva playing Maja Chwalinska in a very unexpected final. WTA Wimbledon
Sierra – Bondar: 11:30 EST

Solana Sierra is 3-2 in five grass matches this season. Ranked No. 56, Sierra will need to win this match in the WTA Wimbledon first round to have a chance at cracking the WTA top 50. It’s a very important match for her. What is intriguing about this WTA Wimbledon encounter between Sierra and her opponent, Anna Bondar, is that both players like playing on clay. They both played over a dozen matches on clay in the European spring season and had some notable successes. Now they will meet on the surface where they are less comfortable. Bondar is 1-3 on grass this season, but she did lose to an in-form grass opponent, Emma Navarro. The grass achievements of these players are not significant or large, but both players have been going up against good competition.
Best Bet to Make
The price for Sierra moneyline is just below the threshold for what we allow as a reasonable value bet. You could fold Sierra moneyline into a parlay, but that will not be our recommended best bet. This looks like an over 2.5 set match. Neither player is especially strong on grass. Neither player has won a large number of grass matches this year. The rankings gap and overall talent level between the two players are not that big, suggesting a tight match. This doesn’t look or feel like a match in which the winner of the first set will pull away in the second. Over 2.5 sets is the play.
That being said, betting on over 2.5 sets is a value bet for sure.

Jones – Parry: Time 11:30 EST

Francesca Jones has a lot to prove going into this WTA Wimbledon match against Diane Parry. She is 0-3 on grass this season. Given that she lost early at Roland-Garros, she has not won a professional tennis match since May 24. That one victory (over Beatriz Haddad Maia) is Jones’ only win since May 7. Jones has to figure out a way to turn her season around, but she is a heavy underdog against Parry, who has won four grass matches this year. One of Parry’s two losses on grass was to Linda Noskova, who is the No. 9 seed at this WTA Wimbledon tournament and is a threat to make a deep run.
Best Bet to Make
Everything points to Parry in this match. Jones just isn’t showing enough form or quality to be considered as a betting option. There isn’t a pro-Jones betting angle that makes sense in this match. You won’t get much of a price on Parry moneyline, so you could dump that into a parlay as one leg of several. For a standalone wager, Parry winning in straight sets is very reasonably priced. It’s clearly the most attractive individual bet on the board.
That being said, betting on Parry winning 2:0 is a value bet for sure.

Alexandrova – Udvardy: Time 11:30 EST

Ekaterina Alexandrova was having a horrible 2026 tennis season on clay in the spring. Though her grass results have not been amazing, they have certainly been a lot better than clay. Alexandrova went 1-5 on clay in six matches. She has split six grass matches (3-3), playing noticeably better tennis. Alexandrova’s comparatively better comfort level on grass is why she is a massive moneyline favorite in the betting markets against Panna Udvardy. However, the one head-to-head meeting between these players was on grass earlier this month in Hertogenbosch. Udvardy won in straight sets. Should Alexandrova really be this big a favorite in the first round of WTA Wimbledon?
Best Bet to Make
The markets love Alexandrova, but Udvardy just beat Alexandrova on grass and yet is a gigantic underdog. There is plenty of value to be found on a pro-Udvardy bet here. You will get an okay price for Alexandrova winning in straight sets, but you will get a tremendous price for Udvardy plus 1.5 sets. Given that Udvardy just won on grass, it seems hard to think Udvardy won’t make this match very close. You could consider Udvardy on the game spread, but we are going to keep it simple and predict Udvardy will win at least one set.
That being said, betting on Udvardy +1.5 sets is a value bet for sure.
