Iga Swiatek will be in French Open action.

WTA Rome Day 4 Predictions Including Iga Swiatek vs Caty McNally

The clay at Foro Italico for the WTA Rome 1000 always brings its own challenges with high bounces and longer rallies, rewarding players who move well and construct points patiently. Day 4 features some intriguing matchups where recent form on the surface, experience, and how the players have built momentum through the early rounds will play a big role. As always, we here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for every match on the schedule including Madison Keys vs Peyton Stearns; but who will advance?

WTA Rome Day 4 Predictions

Hailey Baptiste vs Simona Waltert

Head-to-Head: First meeting

Baptiste has been one of the stories of the clay swing so far. She put together a strong run in Madrid, showing she can compete at a high level and come through tough matches on this surface. Her movement and ability to use her forehand to dictate play have looked sharp. Waltert earned her way into the main draw through qualifying, which is impressive, but she has had a mixed season overall and faces a step up here. Baptiste’s recent confidence on clay should help her control the tempo and open up the court more consistently.
Prediction: Baptiste in 2

Jessica Pegula vs Zeynep Sonmez

Head-to-Head: First meeting

Pegula arrives with a very solid 2026 record and has defended her title in Charleston on clay earlier this year, proving she knows how to grind out wins on the surface. She moves the ball around well and stays steady from the baseline. Sonmez has shown some promise but this looks like a tough test against someone with more big-match experience at this level. Pegula’s consistency and clay pedigree from the season should give her the edge in longer rallies.
Prediction: Pegula in 2

Elina Svitolina vs Noemi Basiletti

Head-to-Head: First meeting

Svitolina brings plenty of experience and has a strong clay background from past deep runs at big events. She knows how to manage matches and use her variety to disrupt opponents. Basiletti, the young Italian, has had a nice run through qualifying and picked up her first tour-level win, which will give the home crowd something to cheer. Playing in front of her own fans on clay can be a boost, but the step up against a seasoned pro like Svitolina will be demanding. Svitolina’s know-how on clay and ability to handle pressure should see her through.
Prediction: Svitolina in 2

Iga Swiatek vs Caty McNally

Head-to-Head: Swiatek 2-0 McNally

Swiatek has had an up-and-down season by her standards but remains dangerous on clay with her footwork, heavy topspin, and ability to dictate from the back of the court. McNally earned a solid straight-sets win in her opener and can mix in slices and variety to throw off rhythm. She has taken a set from Swiatek before, showing she can compete. Still, Swiatek’s overall clay pedigree and experience in these settings make her tough to beat when she finds her range. McNally will need to play aggressively and hope for some errors, but Swiatek looks set to control most of the play.
Prediction: Swiatek in 2
