Just 32 players are still standing at the French Open and another eight will be making their final bow for 2026 on day six. As ever, we here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for every match on the schedule, including Mirra Andreeva vs Marie Bouzkova, but who will secure their place in the second week at Roland Garros?
French Open Day 6 Predictions
Iga Swiatek vs Magda Linette
Tope: Iga Swiatek meets compatriot Magda Linette for a third time in Paris, with their head-to-head locked at 1-1 after Linette’s upset win in Miami earlier this season, but Roland-Garros tells a different story. Linette has the tools to make this awkward and could nick a set but Swiatek’s control on clay, her return dominance, and sheer comfort in Paris tilt the balance heavily her way.
Prediction: Swiatek in 2
Jordan: Swiatek and Linette are good friends off the court. Unfortunately for the older Pole, Swiatek’s ultra focused nature on the court means she will certainly not let sentiment impact her. The four-time French Open champion should be quite comfortable against an opponent without any significant weapons.
Prediction: Swiatek in 2
Nurein: It’s an all-Polish affair and the last time they met, Linette upstaged her decorated compatriot. But that was on hard courts. Swiatek is near invincible in this tournament when she’s at her best. And judging by the tennis she’s produced so far, she should record a resounding victory.
Prediction: Swiatek in 2
Sorana Cirstea vs Solana Sierra
Tope: Sorana Cirstea arrives in Paris in sharp form, yet to drop a set in what’s been a confident 2026 campaign, and she’ll be eyeing a rare return to the French Open round of 16 with real momentum behind her. Standing in her way is Solana Sierra, the clay specialist who announced herself with a statement win over former finalist Jasmine Paolini and now gets a second shot at Cirstea after falling in straight sets at last year’s US Open. The Argentine’s comfort on the surface makes this trickier than their ranking gap suggests and I think she can nick this one. Sound the upset alarm
Prediction: Sierra in 3
Jordan: Cirstea has been playing the best tennis of her career in her final season. She faces a clay-court specialist who stunned Jasmine Paolini in the previous round. Cirstea is a very different player to Paolini, and I think her extra firepower will overwhelm Sierra.
Prediction: Cirstea in 2
Nurein: Sierra beat an ailing Paolini in the last round, but this will be a tough test against the energetic Cirstea whose final French Open has started with a bang. The Romanian has played flawless tennis in the opening two rounds and she has a very efficient offensive game to take down the Argentine.
Prediction: Cirstea in 2
Karolina Muchova vs Jil Teichmann
Tope: Karolína Muchova looks every bit the dark horse again as she cruises through the draw without dropping a set, reinforcing why she’s a former finalist with serious pedigree. Next up is Jil Teichmann, the Swiss underdog sitting way down at world #170 but riding her own wave of momentum after back-to-back statement wins over Liudmila Samsonova and Magdalena Fręch. Teichmann’s giant-killing run has been impressive, but stretching it to a third top-name scalp against a cleaner, more complete opponent looks like a step too far.
Prediction: Muchova in 2
Jordan: Teichmann’s route to the third round included a victory against Liudmila Samsonova. Muchova’s game is a tougher matchup for the Swiss. She possesses much more variety, and the 2023 runner-up will likely handle this challenge.
Prediction: Muchova in 2
Nurein: Teichmann is seeking a rare spot in the fourth round which would be a massive achievement after a very difficult season. That said, Muchova is unlikely to be a straightforward task for the Swiss. Muchova plays with so much flair and creativity that will neutralize Teichmann’s patterns of play.
Prediction: Muchova in 2
Elina Svitolina vs Tamara Korpatsch
Tope: Elina Svitolina comes into this clash in ruthless form and looks firmly on course to extend her winning streak when she meets Tamara Korpatsch for the first time. Korpatsch, enjoying one of the better stretches of her career has already shown she can disrupt seeded players but this is a different level of test altogether. Unless Svitolina’s level drops sharply, the consistency and big-match polish she’s shown all season will be enough to steer her into the round of 16.
Prediction: Svitolina in 2
Jordan: Svitolina is usually incredibly solid in the opening three rounds of Grand Slams. Korpatsch’s awkward style could be enough to take a set from the Ukrainian, but not enough to eliminate her from the tournament.
Prediction: Svitolina in 3
Nurein: Svitolina entered the tournament as one of the contenders for the title and the draw will surely open up with the early elimination of some top seeds. I expect the Ukrainian to utilize her experience and reach the second week unscathed.
Prediction: Svitolina in 2
