The WTA Rome tournament quarterfinals begin on Tuesday. The WTA world is fluid right now. Aryna Sabalenka is down, and Iga Swiatek is rising. Sorana Cirstea is playing the best tennis of her career in what is her last year on tour. Jelena Ostapenko is developing momentum and will try to maintain it. Mirra Andreeva continues to perform well. Coco Gauff isn’t playing great, but is finding ways to win matches. LWOS has our best bets for the two quarterfinal matches on Tuesday. Post your best bets and thoughts in the comments.
WTA Rome
Cirstea – Ostapenko: Time 7:00 EST
H2H: 3-4
Sorana-Mihaela Cirstea beat World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka a few days ago. When a player beats an elite opponent, a big challenge is to come back in the following match and avoid a letdown. It takes a lot of energy to beat a number one player. Cirstea was able to regroup and then beat Linda Noskova, a top-20 player, in the following round. That’s really impressive. Former French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko dominated Anna Kalinskaya in her Round of 16 match in Rome. Ostapenko is often inconsistent, but was very steady in that blowout win. Two in-form players are meeting here in the quarterfinals.
Best Bet to Make
Both players are thriving, but Cirstea beating Sabalenka and Noskova rates as a better accomplishment than Ostapenko beating Qinwen Zheng and then Anna Kalinskaya. Ostapenko is playing good tennis, but Cirstea is playing even better tennis right now. One player can do really well, but if the other player sets the bar even higher, it’s not going to matter. That’s what we feel here. We’re not ignoring Ostapenko’s quality; we’re recognizing how good Cirstea is against superior competition.
That being said, betting on Cirstea winning is a value bet for sure.

Gauff – Andreeva: Time 13:00 EST
H2H: 4–0
This match is extremely interesting. Coco Gauff is 4-0 all-time against Mirra Andreeva, but the betting markets have Andreeva installed as a very slight favorite. Why would this be the case, especially since Gauff is the defending French Open champion and someone who clearly can play on clay? The main reason is that Andreeva is on a roll. She won Linz. She made a deep run in Stuttgart. She went to the Madrid final. She is having a tremendous clay season, while Gauff hasn’t done a whole lot. She failed to make the semifinals in both Stuttgart and Madrid, and she is not dominating her opponents right now.
Best Bet to Make
Because there is no heavy favorite here, you’ll get a solid price simply for picking the winner. That player is more likely to be Andreeva, even though Gauff is 4-0 head-to-head. Andreeva is playing a lot better than Gauff right now. She is very comfortable on clay. Gauff wobbled in her most recent match. She was down a set and 3-5 and a match point to Iva Jovic. She saved the match point, and Jovic, a teenager, lost her composure. If Andreeva plays the way she has been playing, Gauff’s current level of form probably won’t be good enough to win. Andreeva moneyline is the pick.
That being said, betting on Andreeva winning is a value bet for sure.
