Mirra Andreeva will be in action at the WTA Adelaide Open.

WTA Madrid Final Prediction: Mirra Andreeva vs Marta Kostyuk

We are set for an unexpected yet thrilling final for the WTA 1000 in Madrid, the first clay 1000 of the season. Mirra Andreeva is into her third WTA 1000 final of her career, as she won two of the events early last year (in Dubai and Indian Wells). It’s been a bit of a struggle since then, as she hasn’t been able to come close to replicating that level at big events. For Marta Kostyuk, meanwhile, this is by far the best result of her career so far. She has previously reached one WTA 1000 semifinal (at Indian Wells in 2024, where she got thumped by Iga Swiatek), but she has never looked as impressive as she has in this event. But who will take home the crown and the 1000 ranking points? We share our thoughts.

WTA Madrid Final Prediction

Mirra Andreeva vs Marta Kostyuk

Of the two this event, Kostyuk has certainly been more impressive. She has comprehensively beaten some top players, including thorough demolitions of Jessica Pegula and Linda Noskova. Andreeva has been playing well, but nothing she has done has been nearly as impressive. On the other hand, she hasn’t needed to be. The Russian is playing consistent tennis, under clear control, and is constructing points impressively on the quick clay. It’s a great blend of power and finesse, and it should make her a threat in Rome and at the French Open.

Kostyuk, meanwhile, has provided a masterclass in controlled aggression. She hits the ball hard, from anywhere on the court, and she has done it with beautiful precision these two weeks. If that continues in the final, Andreeva will have real trouble responding.

Ultimately, Andreeva has a better game for clay and more variety. That, coupled with her better experience at elite levels, means she is the likelier of the two to win.
Prediction: Andreeva in 3
