The Sunshine Double is now over, and some significant strides in the rankings have been completed on the WTA Tour. For Indian Wells and Miami champion Aryna Sabalenka, she’s firmly staying as the World No. 1. But for other players across the ranking charts, here’s who moved up and who moved down ahead of the clay court swing.
Biggest Movers in the WTA Top 100 This Week
Moving Up
Karolina Muchova: +3: world #14 -> world #11
Muchova keeps producing big tournament results in 2026. Even better for the Czech, an injury in the middle of 2025 means she won’t have any significant ranking points to defend until August. Muchova disappointed in a 6-1 6-1 loss to Coco Gauff in the Miami Open semifinals, but big wins against Victoria Mboko and Alexandra Eala will boost her confidence.
Hailey Baptiste: +12: world #45 -> world #33
The 2026 Miami Open was a great result for some big-name Top 10 players, but Baptiste may have had the biggest breakthrough. The American upset well-known figures Jelena Ostapenko and Elina Svitolina to reach the quarterfinals. She’s now on the cusp of a seed at the French Open, while she’s the seventh highest-ranked American female tennis player. Among a sea of top American talent, Baptiste is one to watch later this season.
Talia Gibson: +12: world #68 -> world #56
Gibson appeared in the Indian Wells biggest movers update, and the Aussie appears yet again on the list for her bruising 2026 form. She cruised past No. 18 seed Iva Jovic in the Miami Open third round, and lost to the eventual semifinalist Elena Rybakina. The 21-year-old will face some pressure on clay courts, an unfamiliar surface; she has never played a tour-level match on clay courts, according to Tennis Abstract.
Yulia Starodubtseva: +19: world #108 -> world #89
Starodubtseva has an aggressive baseline game, and she put her weapons to good use in a third round Miami run. She faced an in-form Amanda Anisimova in a third round loss, but she did not drop a set en route to her final match. The Ukrainian will look to top her career-high spot of No. 63, which she reached in the summer of 2025.
Moving Down
Alexandra Eala: -16: world #29 -> world #45
Eala had a lot of pressure on her shoulders; understandable for a youngster navigating stardom and a sophomore season. While the Filipino did well to reach the fourth round, she fell in a bruising straight sets loss to Muchova. Eala won’t have many ranking points to defend until the grass court season.
Elena-Gabriela Ruse: -11: world #73 -> world #84
Ruse reached the second round of the Miami Open, failing to defend third round points from last year. A quick 6-0 6-3 loss to Madison Keys means the Romanian slipped just outside the Top 80, even though approximately 50 ranking points separated her old and new ranking position. Ruse is now 9-8 on the season.
